Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Alcaraz is an obvious buy at less than 15 million pounds. High ceiling, already looks better than a faded Doucoure and probably offloadable for a similar amount if it doesn't work out. He'll have had eight months to settle in by the time the new season starts, so will be nicely bedded in.

We obviously need two new wingers and I can't imagine anybody at the club wants to turn the loan moves for Harrison or Lindstrom into permanent deals. It's really not hard to find wingers with pace, and perhaps a mixture of a more proven winger and a breaking-through winger with high potential would be good in terms of freeing up money to use elsewhere.

Full backs, imo left back is the ultimate priority here as O'Brien has proven he's decent at right back, although he moves to CB if and when Branthwaite is sold. One of the new full backs we sign must be a huge step up from the quality of Mykolenko.

Then obviously there's the huge issue up front. IMO we should still be looking to offload Beto, plus Calvert-Lewin is likely leaving. That probably brings in about 10 million, and we're left with Chermiti only as it stands. Go for Broja on a no-fee loan, then spend big on a striker to come in and start games.

A truly massive summer awaits: RW, LW, ST, ST, LB, RB. Probably also GK backup and a fourth CB option. Probably needs to be a net spend of around 150 million - whether that's at all realistic is another topic completely. We're gonna be struggling next season though if we don't spend anything like that as it'll mean we haven't brought in players with sufficient quality to improve the squad / we've massively gambled on cheaper players hoping they'll instantly settle in and have an impact.

Alcaraz is a clear yes from 99% of posters.

Which 2 RW + LB do you want signed?

Why would Beto & DCL going bring in £10mil?

Not sure on the wingers because I don't really watch any football that not Premier League, but Brighton keep proving there is plenty of talent out there to be had, and no doubt there are Championship players that could do a hell of a lot better than Harrison and Lindstrom - seems Fellows might be one of them, although I know nothing at all about him.

LB no idea, but again it would be hard to sign worse than Mykolenko.

Beto because I see that as around the fee we'd get for him, DCL obviously nothing as he's being released.

Hopefully the club has been working diligently on new signings and made moves already now that safety is as good as assured.

Any names you would like? I wouldn't mind reading up on some players.

Brighton's model requires a specific style that is also basis for any managers that are signed. And managers there are coaches who have less input in player recruitment.

There will always be a Brighton in my opinion, before Brighton it was Leicester, before that it was someone else. It ebbs and flows in my opinion.

What id really like is to develop our own "model" and that becomes sustainable.

By the times Moyes left we were picking up players like Stones for example and countless examples before that.

Even scouting abroad - players like Arteta and Mirallas game from the footballing back waters at the time. Maybe we have seen it again with Charly.....

This is the way.

Moyes is the master of picking up players that (for whatever reason) have stalled at their current club. I'd expect to see a few players that are on the back of a poor season, but who previously have showed some real talent. He's also not bothered if they've had "premier league experience" or not, so we could see some faces come in from anywhere. Should be an exciting summer.

Rayan Cherki would be a good option for the RW, we have been linked with him a few times over the past few years and there was a story that we tried in January and even once the window closed we tried to get a deal lined up for the summer. Possibly would have been easier to do if Textor had bought the club, but maybe Jake O'Brien can give him a call and get him onboard.

Tom Fellows is a name we have been linked with a few times as well from West Brom, I think he could be a good signing for the RW, hes young and can push Cherki for that position.

At Left Back I would like Ait Nouri from Wolves, but it has been reported they want £42m for him, so I think that may be too much to spend in that area. I think its more likely we would sign Kyle Walker-Peters on a free. I know he plays more at RB, but he can play at LB if Mykolenko is out

I think Cherki would make a massive statement signing.

Ait Nouri would be a similar level of surprise but think Moyes would prefer his defenders to be more 'robust'.

He was quoted (i posted it) as saying he wants young English players and more like Branthwaite...on the way up.

Dont forget this when Spurs are light years ahead and players like Gray, Bergvall, Odobert and home grown Moore are considered to be top class.

They look nothing alike to me...how on earth are they similar players?

Indeed, bargains of the future.

If Moyes feels the same way then Kporha may be a good idea as backup RB then.
How on earth are you going to fit a 17 year old and an 18 year old into a Premier League midfield

This is very true. We were very much Brighton before Brighton really, and we have the guy back who oversaw that. And it looks like we are going all in on him reproducing that.

We were regularly top 6/7 on a shoestring budget. While we won't be City money, the money he will have this time will be ions ahead of where we were then. So the question becomes how scalable is what he did?

Interestingly that's the same question for 4-5 clubs. Including Brighton, Bournemouth etc. The perceived wisdom is that they hit a ceiling and fall away. I wonder if we are at a secular shifting of sands moment though? Arsenal and City have fallen back massively, if RS lose their 3 key players and lose that new manager thing you sense they might too. That makes the league competition suddenly more open.

Like out it another way, are you taking Brighton/Bournemouth over United/Spurs next season for who finishes higher?

For us, it is an exciting opportunity. FWIW I think TFG are doing a lot right. Go back to something that has worked, as opposed to an idea that might work. Give the guy who made it work put a structure around him to make it better, and give him more funds in a way he can scale it, as opposed to radically change it.

Cherki should be top of our transfer list.

A three of Ndiaye - Cherki - Alcaraz would be AMAZING.

A real star signing but I can't see it however I PRAY we do it.

Yes would be epic really...3 ballers behind a new CF. The real value is no one could afford to double mark any of them.

I dont believe i have ever suggested this, so why are you asking me?

….looking forward to the reality of this summers transfer market, suspect it’ll be a long way from the aspirational lists and names appearing here. It could be a busy window and could need all of Moyes’ ingenuity and innovation to spread his spend envelope on the numbers we need.

I’m happy to admit to not having a single player in mind, just looking forward to Moyes addressing the ‘lack of quality’ he talks about and looking forward to discussing players we’re at least linked with.

Tbh if we’ve heard of the player and he’s being banded around on here then it’s probably too late for them to be realistic targets. If you’re seeing lads in the knockout stages of the CL playing well then it’s already too late. No one was mentioning Alcaraz before he joined. I’d bet there was no one championing Pienaar or Arteta before Everton were linked. No one said we should go and get Iliman Ndiaye. The names will probably come from nowhere in the summer.
