Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Adherence to reality. Well played. Alcaraz isn't signed official yet, we've seen him in what, three games? Suddenly he's a fully fledged starter and the side is ready to acquaint 6 more first teamers. It's nuts. It's never been done. Never.
The stand out move for me from Moyes is O'Brien, well, that and playing twenty yards further up the pitch and trying to pin the opposition back a bit whilst getting the ball into Beto's feet, but my point stands. So O'Brien, we can't nudge him out of the side, we aint signing prime Tony Hibbert there, so why ruin a good thing? In games in future, watch how little messing about gets done down our RB zone, sides will probe a bit and try and expose a bit but they don't fancy it. Little guys at 5'7'' don't want to tussle with the big Irish muscle. No one leaves a challenge on him, no one is mouthing off with the wind up, and no one at all fancies picking him up on our corners.
We've keepers out on loan, put emergency recalls in loans next season in worst case scenario. Keepers and RB fixed.
Get a Digne or a Baines for the LB, get a fast as anything RW, and a versatile striker. This bit is the tough bit, get a Niall Quinn (chris wood) type or more of a poacher quick feet type like jeffers. Are we playing a brute or are we going for speed? We can't afford the model that's both. This has to be faced, Alcaraz, Ndiaye, McNeil, some Cottee like striker, that's a bunch of small guys and it'll be a smash up against the monsters playing for notts forest currently. It's why Doucoure is so important, that bit of physicality, that preparedness to mix a bit of brawn.

TLDR?

I'll be amazed at 3 first team instant additions. We need a few big lads, even for the bench to stop our quick and smaller players getting kicked out of games. Good left and right foot dead ball delivery to start picking a few of the big lads out. Enjoyed watching Digne for Villa today. Reminds me of what we gave away.
We need a left back, likely a right back, a striker, likely a right winger if not two and a midfielder minimum, also need some back ups at goalie and centre back. O'Brien has done well but we don't know about Patterson I can see him being sold and we need more mobility and delivery at right and left back. And threat from the wing and maybe a playmaker type to rotate with Alcaraz (assuming he stays) if Doucoure is off. Not to mention we need someone who will eventually replace Gana

No chance! Not signed anyway, we'll get loans again, but that means scrabbling round the bargain basement type deals.
Not all starters no but the squad overall does. We signed several players last summer so its not madness it all depends on the contract renewals and funds, we can probably get by with one winger. Some will have to be frees and loans they are usually your squad fillers.

If you asked me the main positions that could transform this team if we spent, a left back with deliveries and who can get up and down Myko is fine as a rotation or defensive option, another striker and a midfielder who can play six and be used in and out to eventually replace Gana. But that means more compromises at right back, using Ndiaye as a ten /support striker at times and hoping Mcneil can play either flank if he isn't being sold...

Maybe mate but some deals are worked on for months I would be surprised if we haven't enquired about anyone yet. We likely need a few frees as well as loans on top of anyone we buy
True can see free agents being talked about now as you say maybe a kwp and others. Just think loans and well others will come later esp postions out wide as alot of scouting will be getting done

Alcaraz - loan currently.
Harrison - loan.
Lindstrom - loan.
Mangala - loan.

Alcaraz signs, maupay sold, £11m deficit. Before we even get started.

I'm not accusing you, it's been something I've tried to address gently for a bit, where's the money coming from for this total squad overhaul? maradona, Pele, Eusebio, all on frees probably is a bit of a task. We are looking at a season of consolidation. We have to be real. I've asked previous, when were three... four... five or more first teamers signed and implemented just like that? (an answer was provided, it was 3 signed including maestro Barry).

If some players can be persuaded I reckon they'll stay (Doucoure), if Leeds don't come up I can see Harrison loaned again. We're almost bare bones, thankfully Moyes is as shrewd with cash as he is occasionally dry in humour.

Let O'Brien carry on at RB because when he replaces Tarkowski he'll know the role he's watching.

Agree think going to see a real mix of players coming in unless a big sale. Can see all the loans spots getting used again, free agents, older players with maybe a low transfer fee to bost the squad numbers. Definately not going to be all fixed this window but will say that can see the squad being more well rounded

Not saying it can all be done in one window or that we will be spending much more than last summer, but its perfectly possible to bring in three or four players who can add to the first team mix and some backups we did it last summer with less headroom. We may see a few players sold too I can see Patterson, Virginia maybe even Mcneil going and we have a bit more headroom with contracts expiring like Keane, Coleman, Holgate et al. Wouldn't surprise me to see Young, Gana and Doucs renew(on lower terms), can't see Harrison we need someone who can contribute more going forward even on a loan and he is on big wages if your concerned about funds. I am ok with Obrien starting but who is the other option Young can't start games consistently anymore , is it Coufal or a free? Or a younger player on a small fee, unless Moyes actually sees something in Patterson. We have to buy a right winger we literally have nobody who is natural there.

We don't have a great deal to sell, the vultures tried for Branthwaite last summer on the cheap, it was no going. I'm more concerned about losing O'Brien for a small profit - £5m-£10m more than we signed him, we might not feel it so much initially...
Pickford seems happy here, who else is there? Player of the season is clearly the man Gana, and no one is flying in with an offer for a potentially free signing.

Consolidation. Try for next season around the 10th mark (in the league) and go from there. We're a mess.

To get to tenth we definetly need some solid additions. None of us know the financial situation or PSR so we shall see... of course it will be a mix but the squad actually needs several players however we bring them in.

No fat to cut with the players out of contract.
Imagine Gana doesn't sign.
Begovic retires.
A serious injury anywhere.

Moyes earns his corn this summer. Aint no doubt...

This is my point about the midfield we need a six to be rotation for Gana or even to replace maybe a younger player or a option we had Mangala this season Gana may extend but who knows either way he doesn't have many seasons left we need to prepare for it. Begovic is less likely to leave than Virginia for me, he is a third choice/ coach at this stage mabe one of the young keepers out on loan takes one of the spots or we get a free.

Patchwork eleven.

Back five stays as is.

Ndiaye Garner Alcaraz Gana RW
............................ST

There's £100m spent, with loans to pack out the squad. Can't do it on the cheap. To spend is to improve, spending to stay still is what got us into this mess. Managed decline. Has to end.

Maybe Moyes unearths a gem, pennies in a rich mans world. Maybe.

I cited the GK earlier. Emergency loan recalls if needed.

Could Mainoo be Gana for us in the future? man utd want money. They also want to clear down the decks and start over.

Can't see a RW anywhere atm.

McNeill, Beto or Garner would be the ones (pragmatically) if unwillingly the club could realise a value on selling - if the club decided to keep Branthwaite.
