he’s 28 at the start of the season, I doubt we spend big on him, goes against what TFG want to do.

I hope I am wrong, but not sure TFG is planning to spend big this summer. They will run the club as a business hoping that it will essentially fund itself. We have barely 10 players on the books come next season, and you see more activity from other clubs on signings and contract extension. Us, nothing...just that we are waiting to ensure we are a pl club come next season. I don't see the ambition yet...

Im thinking differently mate. If they aren't limited by psr I think they will invest significantly in the squad over the next 2 summer windows and possibly then run the club as a business to essentially fund itself.
Kind of like companies taking over businesses on their knees but with potential, injecting money in to get them back on their feet and moving in the right direction.
You generally have to spend money to make money.

Would take him if we bring in another cm aswell hopefully would be on a decent price. Would accept these types of moves aslong as other quality bought in aswell.

When Newcastle signed Guimaraes they didn't have half their squad leaving for free and needing to be replaced.

That first summer under Saudi ownership they signed 5 players including Guimaraes for 100m total. The next summer they sign another 5 players for 150m total. The next summer 4 players for 120m total. Do you think the PL will allow us to spend like that? Even if they did would we not have to spread that money out across twice the number of signings just to have a full squad for next season?

There is a chance we spend 30-40 million on one player this summer but imo its not likely, barring tfg pulling a rabbit out of a hat.

Not if we we sign some players up to contracts and take advantage of the loan and free market.

Those figures are pretty much what your precious brighton spent when they come up, with no return until the 4th year, and that was by selling Ben White

….the reality is a large number of regular starters are out of contract next season, it’s the mess Moyes has inherited. I don’t think we can pay mega bucks replacing them all immediately, we will need numbers in and they won’t all be high-profile superstars.

12/13 place next season could be the short-term aim.

But we should be spending the majority of our money on starters, RB,LB, CM,RW and striker. The rest should be loans and frees

….and I suspect that will be the case. We don’t really know if this is just regurgitated rumour, regardless of the source but I think we can expect a few signings like this.

Younger and a bit more of a goal threat when he gets minutes.

Longstaff would be the Doucs replacement I guess but don't think he's any better than Garner.
