Is it? If we get taken over by billionaire ambitious owners, refinance debts, ease PSR restriction from the new financial year in July whilst moving in to a state of the art stadium, and then still can’t make a 40 million signing to compete with even the mid table clubs then seriously what’s the point? Brighton splashed 40 million on Rutter last summer. Wolves signed Cunha for 44 million, Leicester signed Tielemans for 40 million, bloody Bournemouth with their 12k piddly stadium splashed 40 million on Evanillson! And we can’t compete with these clubs STILL?
We’re talking Delap here as well, not Harry Kane. I’m far from convinced that a player who stank out the Championship with Hull last season scoring 8 goals in all competitions in 30 odd games in a lower tier, is suddenly head hunted by the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea!
Yes he’s done well this year, but so did that Luton striker last season in the Premiership who’s now disappeared that plenty were creaming themselves over in here. I personally would like to see more from him before risking big money.
We’re not going to be in a position to splash 40 million on several players which we need, that’s obvious. We’re going to have to box clever on a number of deals, but surely we can make ONE big money move? If he does end up with options, then Moyes has a job to do to sell the move to him if he’s the player we want. We’re moving to a brand new stadium, we have new ambitious owners who are looking to invest, and more importantly, we’ll make him our starting striker who’ll play every week instead of getting splinters in his arse at Stamford Bridge or the Emirates.
