Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Need to avoid the PL experience nonesense. It often means very little beyond being a comfort blanket for defensive managers or managers who lack vision.

How many PL games has Michael Keane played? And, if he played for another side and we were linked with him for a middling fee in the summer, a load of fans would be saying it’s a sensible signing, despite the fact He's one of the worst CBs I have ever seen.

Moyes really needs stopping if that's the route he is going down. Signing Soucek because he is better than Doucoure is illogical. If he ends up in the 10, we are booting the ball up to a big man with no pace, a low to average presser, who can't play a tidy throughball, seldom scores from distance, but has a nice touch and occasionally gets on the end of crosses. He is 30 and will likely cost in excess of £20m. We need to be getting a real player there, not a player like this. In truth, it is the love of and insistence on these kinds of players that prevents certain kinds of managers making the move to/or being successful at bigger clubs.
Tend to agree look at Bournemouth a squad full of quality scouted properly, mostly at good ages

I like him but prob not at the numbers that will sway the move. I thought he was gobbled up in our game against them this season.

Its like mining for gold at City mate.

Might put a few pound on them finishing second this season as well.

I remember 10 years ago when they rebuilt their academy with Viera at the helm. Their aim was to poach and develop the best British talent.

Seems to have panned out.

It’s an industry in itself mate. Pup farming.

Essentially funds City and Chelsea, or on a surface level keeps them out of the mess we got into.

People lol at young players and think of lads who impresss them playing men’s senior football.

There is a whole market in Junior football no one is aware off bar those involved in the industry - if you listen very carefully to what TFG have said - they mention it a lot.

I don't think we need to spend a fortune. We have some good players, a few holes and minimal cover

1.Pickford/Virginia

2.Patterson or New RB/O'Brien/ Garner at a pinch

4.Tarkowski/O'Brien

5. Branthwaite/New CB

3, Mykolenko/Young/McNeil at a pinch

6 &8 Gana/Garner/Iroegbunam/New Gana

11. Lindstrom/New RM

7. N'Diaye/MacNeil

10 Alcaraz/MacNeil

9. New CF/Chermiti/Beto

So New CB, New RW, New CM and New CF
If they want to keep Doucoure for another year instead of a new CM thats ok but he and Gana wont last forever. If they sell Branthwaite then 2 new CB's.
Perhaps my shock choice is Lindstrom but I think he can be class and brings something different to the fast RW we also need.
All the other loans and out-of contracts can go.

Yeah I think we are a great fit for him tbh. World Cup year, gets straight in our team.. could do a lot worse.

“Come and be our number 9 playing at this incredible new stadium, or go and be a sub/bit part player elsewhere.”

It’s a good point about World Cup year. Kane is definitely starting to drop off as a player to where he was 2-3 years ago. There’s a real opportunity to be the next big thing when the World Cup comes around.

Sounds like Moyes wants a few contracts tying up to make the rebuilding task less daunting…

That squad ain’t getting top 10 unless the striker and RW are world class players. Lindstrom is garbage, we cant have doucoure as number 10 again that would be criminal and we need 2 centre midfielders as garner and Tim aren’t good enough.

So with a few injuries we could have garner and Tim in midfield, lindstrom and McNeil wide and doucoure and Beto as number 10 and 9. That would be a disaster

Well he’s right about 11 or 12 contacts expiring being too much. Ideally you’d want to be evolving the squad with 3 or 4 good signings over a couple of windows rather than having to find a dozen players in one.
