The only weakness is Danns game is he is very slow, it doesnt bother us as we play deep and on the counter but for a team like Everton who push their fullbacks right up I could see him being very exposed, he isnt the best in 1 vs 1 situations but for us he is brilliant and a good threat from set plays

Excellent point.

The fee wont be £8 million.

He is not exactly young really, has had a few moves, and is seen to be a little homesick.

28 with no England caps, and 2 really good prem seasons under his belt.

Not too different to when we got Distin, for around £6 million.

£8 million seems about right....now if he was 5 years younger, then you never know his actual level. We probably know Dann's level....a good prem player.

Palace fan here in peace.

Why do you think we would accept £8m for our best player? Scott Dann is one of the best central defenders in the PL, I really believe that, If he was playing for a more fashionable club he would be Englands CB alongside Cahill, we have money in the bank and no offence but we finished above yourselves last year and from when Pardew took over mid season i think we finished 6th or 7th.

If you want to buy him it would have to be a silly offer that we simply couldnt refuse.

£10 buys Caulker who is [Poor language removed]

Ive read some comments about him being poor on the ball? I can only suggest you watch him play, he is very assured on the ball and can pass aswell as any centre half ive seen.

Thanks for the contribution mate. To answer your question I think there is a lot of ignorance plus what the press are reporting.

There's a view on here that Dann has played for Birmingham, Blackburn and now Palace (two of them have been relegated). Rightly or (in my view wrongly) people see Palace as a team who are struggling. I disagree with that notion completely, and as you've said you finished in the top half last season and he was your captain and best player.
I also think there needs to be a wider argument, that just because someone has played for a poor team doesn't automatically make them a poor player. His record at Blackburn/Birmingham shouldn't be held against him.

You are right about how comfortable he is on the ball as well. I can only assume people haven't watched him. I've followed him since he first signed for Birmingham and wanted us to sign him for years. He reads the game well, is comfortable with the ball at feet and an excellent organiser, though he does lack a bit of pace.

The crux of the issue though mate, is he is invaluable to you guys. For us he would be 3rd choice, behind Jagielka and Stones. With all due respect, while I rate him highly, he wouldn't be ahead of either Stones or Jagielka whoever he played for (or shouldn't be).

But essentially we want him as a back up, so people aren't really too keen for us to spend 15 million on him. If Palace don't want to sell then that's understandable, but I suspect his wife wants to move back up north. We'll have to see anyway. Pardew has sown he's a astute manager and I'm sure you'll have another good season next year whatever happens.

Dann, Dann, Dann, Dann, Dann, Dann, Dann, Dann, Dann, Dann, Dann, Dann, Dann, Dann, Dann, Dann, Dann, Dann, Dann, Dann, Dann, Dann, Dann, Dann, Dann, Dann, Dann.........
