Still, I can understand people's reservations. He was very highly rated in Spain and available for free after Wigan, and on both occasions big clubs swerved him completely. Just seems a little odd, especially since he's not a player who's ever really struggled with injuries.

Wouldn't mind a player like him, though, even if Barry stays.

He's got what Muamba had I believe, that could be why.

I think we need a combination of players who'll improve the first team, and players who'll boost the squad.

How much would Medel from Cardiff be? He's way too good for championship and would make a great replacement for Barry.

Indeed but we also need numbers. So possibly (I am not using Redmond as an example as I don't think he's any good) we'll need to take a punt on youngish players who look promising and might make the grade if given the chance.

We need a mix of proven talent and those with a chance of making it who can bolster the squad. It'll be a long season and we currently have far too small a squad.

Out of the 3 relegation teams, I would only take Steven Caulker if the fee is right. We need a long term replacement for Distin.
