Absolutely this. Oviedo in for Peinaar has been obvious for weeks, and we can't get better with Osman in the team.

I can't see why Vellios would want to stay. He must see Jela's body language month after month - he's scared stiff - and
wonder why he's here. Heitinga has more bad days than good and yet Duffy can't even get on as a sub'.

As I've said before, our problem isn't the size of the squad, it's the fact that we don't bloody use it.
totally agree. we are crying out for a bigger squad but players who have looked good enough are waiting around for injuries when tired and out of form players get more tired. carrying a couple of passengers per game for most of season cant be better than taking a chance on players you bought in to cover who may not have looked like world beaters yet. on form..pienaar, Osman, baines are great but Oviedo and barkley should be better than out of form pienaar and Osman, or why are they here. and again you are right, what has velios done that makes him worse than a sluggish jelavic with no confidence. its been a good season and still think fifth is possible and worth it if it boosts our squad but if Moyes won't use them then prob is time to go, but which top club will go for a manager scared to use a good squad. despite everything got a gut feeling next season be even better

so how do people feel about Pienaar and Osman?

They look tired, and as such they really stand out as poor performers in physical games, because without the intelligent movement and close control in the final third they are complete passengers.

We were outfought yesterday and they were a major reason for it. Calling Osman back in the squad was the latest in a long list of stupid Moyes decisions when the chips are down.

You really can tell that Pienaar is looking forward to his summer holiday, without reading his twitter.

In fairness to Sland, the reason most of our short passing was between Distin, Heintinga and the back to Howard to hoof was because they closed down all across the pitch and didn't allow us to get the ball to our midfielders in attacking positions. And, as has been said above, tiredness/niggling injuries meant that we didn't have the spark to create space for ourselves.

Thinking back on the game, the most impressive aspect was Sland's off the ball play, since neither team really looked threatening with it.

So are we s**te again? Koff Everton :(
In all fairness it was always going to be a tough one, being Di Canio's first home game, just wish we could have snuck something from the game. It's going to take a monumental implosion from Spurs and for us to win all of our remaining games to sneak into Europa League. Oh well, roll on the summer and hopefully some big changes for the better

agreed was going to be tough, past few weeks felt less confidence about this one than the spurs, arsenal games. not sure we need win them all though. Spurs look very vulnerable. probably a win at Anfield needed now. do think that losing yesterday wouldn't have hurt so much if we had put out a team that looked like our manager believed in the squad the way most of the fans do.

Build up play was very slow, passing was dire, there was nothing in that performance to say we are a team that can play European football.

Sunderland were much better, they wanted the ball, they worked hard in every area of the pitch, Di Canio was never out of his technical box and he urged them on for a win. We were never gonna score even if they played another 90 minutes.

The referee was a prick but that's besides the point. We met a team today who played with more confidence and more belief.

Osman shouldn't have started. Barkley earned a start, when he came on he tried but there was nothing much he could do.

I'm gonna watch the highlights now anyway.

All I will say is the following points

-Stadium of Light and Sunderland in general is nice. Would defo recommend everyone try to get a ticket for next season (I'm sure they'll stay up now)

-Barkley should have started

- Pienaar has been bad the past two games. He should be dropped for Fulham

- Barkley should have started

- Ref was an absolute Base Tard

- Di Canio looked like a certain famous political figure of the 1930's and 40's with his wild hand gestures at the side of the pitch

- We probably did enough to earn at least a draw over the course of the 90

- BARKLEY SHOULD HAVE STARTED!!!!!!!!!!
