You know, there's an element of truth there. One if my mates routinely spends the match checking whichever betting app he's using to cash out. Or goes to the bar for the second half and watches on the screens.
It's almost as if when the game isn't up to much fans (at many clubs) throw a titty lip and look for entertainment elsewhere. Instant gratification isn't it?
It's a novelty thing too. For example, Stoke used to have a cracking atmosphere when they got into the premier league. "Us against the world, let's intimidate" mindset. It all died down once established. In many respects we've been comfortable and middling for a while, it's like no one can be arsed.
