It wasn't a foul on Baines. The shot was right into the corner. Howard was nowhere near it.
But if it isn't called as a foul and the ref doesn't blow for it Howard makes an effort to stop it and reaches it. He made a better save than that one would have been from Gomis.

If you look at it from behind the goal you can see that Howard would not have got anywhere near it even if he had jumped.

Howard heard the refs whistle before Shelvey strikes it and is walking forward with his hands down knowing it doesn't have to be saved...if the whistle wasn't blown he'd have stood his ground and the ball wouldn't have dipped over him with an up-stretched hand.

There's no way Howard thought he had to save that. He let it sail by.

Howard was getting no where near that shot. It was perfectly placed. Whether he stopped ir not, no keeper was getting that from Howards starting position.

*sigh*

His 'starting position' was determined by the whistle. If it hadn't have been blown he'd have been a yard or so back toward his own goal line (he was walking forward after hearing the whistle).

Just look at the movement of Howard just before Shelvey hits the ball (which was just after the refs whistle).

Howard would have got a hand on that effort for sure.

You ;iterally say anything to win (or not in most cases) a point. You are the only blue I have spoken to who thinks Howard " our well known, being too far off his line " keeper, would have gotten to that. He was MILES away mate.

I don't think he would've got anywhere near it, but that's not the point.
The ref blew for a foul on 'diver'? Baines and that means no goal. End of.
Exactly. It's debatable whether Howard makes no attempt to stand his ground and backpeddle because he hears the whistle (and sees the ref hold his hand up and raise his whistle before Shelvey hits it, btw). But it seems like there's people who'd like to have seen defeat pulled from the jaws of another decent result, which I find pretty odd tbh.
