Keep Holgate and Davies. Bin everyone else including those not playing off. Easy.
Baines is probably one of the best left backs I've ever seen, but he drives me friggin nuts when all he does is get it on the halfway line and pass it backwards.
He has no desire to bully a defender; his only thought is spinning away from the defender as quickly as possible.
And that, in a nutshell, is why he's such a limited footballer. For all his talk, he has shown no willingness whatsoever to identify and work on his weaknesses since he joined us.
And in games like this - when you need to build pressure and put a team on the backfoot and exploit potential nerves - he is an outright liability, and why the truly big clubs won't touch him with a bargepole for the figures bandied about.
His goals have vastly inflated his value beyond his ability.
Mirallas and DCL have been just as bad in that front three, but they're not the ones banging on about being the best in the world, running his mouth in the media every time Belgium have a game like a coward and making out like he's bigger than the club, shushing experienced players on the pitch like he's Maradona.
So he gets it full guns from me when he plays like this - and let's face it, he plays like this the vast majority of the time. The goals have hidden many ills with him.
RB at Wembley every two weeks next season.Spurs are resting him Dave.
Not surprised at all. We've been crap away from home all season.
Now we are so NEA.
Is right mate.
Set - up defensively - tick
Isolate Lukaku - tick
No movement - tick
Meh.
No width with Mirallas and DCL playing very narrow. And no real link up between midfield and attack as we don't have Barkley on.
I'd bring Barkley and Lookman on for Barry and DCL with Valencia coming on if we are still struggling.
