Aus open starts Monday (16th January) Djok is there after last years hoo-haa, sadly Venus Williams isn't fit to play her wild card. Shame that, she's been a hell of a player and outlier of determination considering her many wins, that she's done so in an era with her sister and all the while carrying a serious autoimmune disorder. As ever, weather will dictate who makes it through, a couple of 5 setters in the middle of the day sees even the best reduced to shadows of themselves.

Don't reckon he can recover like he could, such a punishing style on the back of a five setter in that heat? See who he gets, a push over may be ok, a player and he's cooked.

I don't expect him to go far, just that it would be nice if he could get a couple of wins. He's likely playing Kokkinakis next and then most probably Batista Agut. He'll have a good chance against Kokkinakis but would expect Batista Agut to then beat him in the 3rd.

What's the point of him entering GS events where he gets taken to 5 sets and then cant walk again after winning the match?

He needs to retire.

I hope Novak wins the title...even if he is a dirty little anti-vaxxer.

Might as well scrap every league below the Prem and every team in the bottom 14 by that logic.

That's not the same. They're competitive at their own level.

Murray is taking up a GS wild card each time and denying the spot to up and coming tennis players.

Murray has no qualms about taking wildcards

He is a multiple GS winner, there aren't tons of em about. These tournaments still need to sell tickets and drinks.
 

Bloody hell he did it. Broke to make it 6-5 in the fifth and held serve to win. 5 hours 45 minutes in total meaning Murray has been on court for over 10 hours across just 2 matches.

In other news, it is absolutely mental that they allow play to go on past 4am. They really need to do something about that
