Why should he get an exemption when normal people can’t travel there without a vaccine? Just because he’s famous he shouldn’t get special treatment
This is no different than for the Aussie Open - they don't allow you in unless you're vaccinated. So he sat out. But only after lying about being vaccinated, going there, and essentially being deported.

Dude thinks he's above the law. There's a lot of that going around.

If you actually believe that only vaccinated people are entering the country then you’re deluded.

There will be plenty of rich people arriving on private jets who will be unvaccinated. There’s plenty living in the country without a vaccination.

Just let him play but make sure he follows the testing rules like everyone else. He’ll only be there for the duration of the tournament anyway.

If you’re American you can go in unvaccinated. Some people may slyly getting in using wealth but Djokovic is so high profile that they can’t hide it. Whether you agree with the American policy or not, it’s the policy and he shouldn’t be able to get around just because he’s good at tennis.

The tournament is much weaker without him in it, he should be exempt under the conditions he tests like everyone else.

They aren’t the rules though. You can’t go to the US as a foreign national if you are unvaccinated. Of course the tournament is weaker but they can’t just bend over to some entitled bellend so that the US Open is a bit more fun.

Thankfully British people aren’t as daft as Americans and no such policy exists that would keep fit and healthy people especially top sports men and women from competing at majot tournaments even if they are insuperior to our tournaments/competitions. Which they are.

Djokovic could get vaccinated. He won't, but he could.

He like millions others across the world has decided he doesn’t want to be vaccinated. Those that are, me included, have done so to protect ourselves should we get covid.

I’m not getting into the whole covid debate, as it’s defo been done, already. But what difference does it make, if he or any US Open unvaccinated player, turns up, follows the testing regime, plays the tournament, then goes home? It makes for a better tournament and it has zero effect on anyone watching it, other than they get to boo him as he’s chosen to not have a vaccination.

It’s a joke, really. How can you have another grand slam without the best player in the world.

He should be given exemption.
The way he's playing it puts an asterisk on the eventual winner of the tournament, which could be Medvedev.
Rules are rules I suppose but it seems daft in the circumstances.
