I have seen Genesis live a few times with Collins as the front man, and drummer near the end with Chester Thomson.
He is a superb front man. And the end of the show(s) with Dance on a Volcano/Los Endos, and the double drumming is absolutely sensational.
Solo artist? Nah. But in a band, he is pretty good.

Good album that.
Dismissed by many because he was mainstream, thus forgetting the fact that he"s a bloody good musician and a half decent singer. Lots of people prefer to say they like something obscure to try and appear somehow better.

Music fans petition the UN to stop Phil Collins comeback
Two days after the announcement that Phil Collins is 'no longer in retirement', and music fans have begun a petition to the United Nations to stop the comeback.
Under the headline 'Phil Collins must be stopped', the petition has been gathering signatories from around the world on the Change.org website.
"Phil Collins has announced he is 'no longer in retirement'," the petition reads. "There is far too much suffering in the world as it is. This must be stopped."
Some music fans are signing it with pithy comments, including Chris Reid, who wrote: "This is terrible news for the global community", while others simply put: "He's crap"
