Terrific when part of Genesis, painful as a solo performer and had, in my opinion, a horrible effect on Eric Clapton for a couple of years. Thankfully EC grew out of him and has continued to perform at the highest level and improve like a great wine.

Collins produced two (I think) of EC's albums - they were okay, but had that rather distinct Phil Collins sound to just about every track, and some of them therefore sounded a little 'samey' to us diehard EC fans. For me, that period of EC's career was rather static, a little too safe and certain not his best period as a guitarist.

Since moving on, EC is back to his best and getting better, in my opinion.
