This is one of the reasons i left for oz because the british people born & bred were becoming the second class citizen and country has gone to shi* i,m afraid.

Just like the Abos. (y)

Seriously, the so called 'Anglo-Celtic' majority are as much in control here as they are over in your adopted land. It's complete bull**** to think white Britons are under the cosh from some alien assault.

The first Al-Queda attacks where in the early 90s so what has the Iraq war got to do with it? Also can I remind you there wasn't any oil in Bosnia when the British army where sent there.

The first Iraq/Gulf War was in the early 90's - something that set off Bin laden and his merry gang of bombers. Western governments sticking their noses in the affairs of that part of the world and launching invasions and, ultimately, occupation of what are seeing as sacred places were playing with fire. So I suppose that's what it's got to do with it.

Too many immigrants have been allowed into this country for years now and it has to stop. At this rate, there will be more foreigners living in Britain than Britain's themselves, now with what has happened, or could have very well have happened, surely the government needs to act. I have no problem with foreigners living in this country but there should be a limit.

Just one in ten of the population are foreign born - this at the peak of the in-flow of labour (which has begun now to ease and fall off again). Other European nations have larger foreign born populations. Sweden, for instance, has 14% foreign born.

If you look at employment: last released figures from 2008 show that almost 300,000 British-born were working and living in other EU countries.

I disagree this would have happened regardless of any war gulf or otherwise - at the end of the day it is about differences - differences in religion, culture, colour, what we have/haven't got etc, etc..... its a human condition and its always been there ,and always will !
And sadly no amount of liberal politics calling for multi-cultural Utopia's will ever change it :(

We used to have no blacks in football teams; now black players are playing in disproportionate numbers to their presence in the general population. We do live in a multi-cultural society. No amount of wishing otherwise will make that less so.

Strange that if I had posted this, several references to the BNP would have been added by now.

For what it's worth, a dead horse is been flogged. There are far too many middle class people who don't believe there is a problem with immigration in this country. I would not live in London due to the fact it is full of foreign people trying to exploit.

It's not just London, it's every bloody where. Ever been to Slough? Don't do it.

I'm not middle class. There isn't a problem. Foreigners are a small minority, most of whom are getting exploited. They are not the exploiters. (y)

We reap what we sow.
Putting to one side the issue of immigration, terrorism is'nt just an Islam V Jew or Christian so it can't be pinned down on just the people who look 'different'. The problems in Ireland are not that far back in the memory banks, what about the Basques? Yet another faction that killed and maimed, this time not because of religion but for territory and political autonomy.

Immigration. Well, as the daughter of an economic migrant of the 1950's I suppose I can identify with those seeking a better life far away from their homes. In those days though it was actively encouraged but now it's different as far as a British person's view - sadly, the desire to seek a better life will always remain, so there will always be a flood of people wanting to move away from their native countries.
If you think it's bad here though you need to spend some time in Italy where every street seems to be inhabited by north Africans selling something or other.
Each country has it's issues but I suppose our Colonial past is catching up with us.

As a wise man once said, 'one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter'.

Just to make it very clear though - I am not expressing any empathy with acts of terrorism in any shape or form - just saying that what we and other nations did in colonising the globe, is coming back to bite us all.

Ouch :(:(- I never associated freedom fighter with persons who killed innocent people - 9/11 - 7/7 etc....etc . We've all had a Che Guevara t-shirt / poster with the romantic notion of a freedom fighters fighting a just cause.
This is not the A-team!
These men who have been detained are likely to be accused of ploting terrorist acts i.e murdering innocents in areas that I have family :( this terrifies me - these men are terrorists and terrorists only.
I fear the wise man who quoted the above was not as wise as he may think or lived in a more civilized age, unfotunately we don't.

I have to agree with Ghost here. No offence intended on any member here but if myself had have uttered such words, i would have been labelled a racist. What is wrong with this country these days is that you are always on edge over what you can say without offending folk instead of being allowed free speech. The one thing i wish to address with Ghost on the middle class issue is that yes, he is correct to a certain extent but i feel to many middle class people in this country who dont believe there is a problem, are just people who want to believe they are middle class but are actually working class.

What is it with people claiming they're middle-class when they're clearly not? Why the shame about being working-class? In my day, for example, you were middle-class if you were a doctor, lawyer or architect; that is, a professional with a high salary. Nowadays it seems any old Tom, Dick or Harry is inclined to see himself as part of the professional elite.

With regard immigration, although there are clearly problems surrounding muslim integration, on the whole it has enriched the UK and Europe. I much prefer a diverse society than a homogeneous one. At my language school, I'm one of the few Europeans. I don't feel threatened by that at all. It strikes me that the vast majority there, including muslims, are just trying to live their lives peacefully.

I just don't think we should judge whole communities on the actions of nutters.

Good post, Agree with alot of it.

It's a small minority that lets everyone down, sadly.
