Terry Dropped As England Captain

Agreed.

I think the captaincy used to have an important use back in the day but I think it's ceremonial more than anything now.

Bobby Moore, Bryan Robson, even Beckham - captains who you could rely on.

The media though do get involved because all they are doing is feeding the thick ****ers who believe everything they read in the papers.

Now at the club level, I think it has a bit more importance and responsibility that goes with it. I think Neville has been a great captain for Everton and sets a good example for the dressing room and for the club, both on and off the pitch.

Well yes, that is what any leader of any organisation should do - at all levels.

John Terry has 2 parents who are criminals still. He has a wife and kids and he knocks off a club and international team mates missus. He also sells his Wembley box for 4k a pop.

Very good defender, but has shown his true colours recently.

That being said, it is his private life and has nothing to do with us - but like I say, the media will do anything to sensationalise a story. Sad to say this, but I reckon there were quite a few relieved celebs during the Jade Goody death coverage.

Exactly...when the spotlight isn't on them.

Yep.

It's just the way it all works. Max Clifford has a lot to answer for, and did anyone wonder about the timing of the Saha announcement? The eve of the derby? all about boosting optimism. Which is the good side of PR and Media.

YouTube clip on Chico's The Media thread is as he puts it - nailed on.

It's designed to sell papers.

They desperately want to win the World Cup so they could bore us for eternity. Fortunately they are not good enough to win it on foreign shores like all the best teams do.

Well yeah that's a given. But I also believe that the media have this sick desire to witness failure. Which also sells papers.

If he had to make Ferdinand the captain then there was no reason why Terry shouldn't have continued his job as the skipper. Considering the number of problems Ferdinand has had over the years and the personal issues this is a bad move. Terry is in good form while Ferdinand is maybe at the worst form of his career after a long time. WC on the horizon and imagine Ferdinand's form to continue like this? Damn!

I would have gone with Lampard then. No other comes to my mind. Gerrard? Absolutely not.

Think England have shot themselves in the foot here - i dont see what the big deal is really.

Ferdinand will crack make no mistake!

It's what they do. People in charge at the FA are clueless - if you've ever seen Mike Basset England Manager? well I reckon that's fairly close to how they operate.
