I didn't 'make it up' I questioned the simple fact that at £155m for the all singing and dancing 55k stadium it looked ambitious given the reality of the cost of the project that was actually delivered i.e. the Echo Arena

The esk agreed with me btw, but you swerved that conversation I note.
155M for the stadium, 300M for the overall project. Not really bothered if the Esk agrees with you or not. He's a sound fella, excellent businessman by the sound of it, but not all mods are Gods.

Thanks lol, none of us are Gods, and as I said earlier I've never delved into the Kings Dock project in any great detail. However it would be interesting to know who was putting up the other £150 million assuming the stadium related £150 m (approx) had been secured. That £150 million included an estimated £40 million from other partners - I'm assuming that actually the non-stadium participants were then putting £190 million into the project albeit only seeing the benefit of £150 million development themselves.

Sounds similar to any other stadium development where the main participants (not just Everton) actually don't have the funds themselves and are looking for subsidies from wherever - they don't usually get off the ground.

Agreed, but with the kickstart of committed public money, European funding and a world class iconic location just down from the Unesco world heritage waterfront. The only main participant (the one that significantly delayed the intended project start through arsing around) on public record as not having the finance is EFC.

As far as I know this is correct. But one of the questions that is asked when multiple sources of capital come together for a project is always "where are the other funds and how secure is that funding?", then leading to "our funding is contingent upon others stepping up also". So you have a little cat and mouse game where incrementally backers get more comfortable with backing a project as they see more evidence of other backers firming up their commitments.

Now the Board bashers will say that no-one offered funds because Everton could not provide funds. However might it be the case that Everton could not provide funds because of the lack of commitment from other partners?

I don't know, and I guess only those present could say for certain, but I doubt it was as clear and dry as some would like to make out.

Anyway it is in the past - the focus needs to be on acquiring investment into the club to meet our potential, either through new backers or new owners.

ps you did not answer the question about the non stadium backers lol

I'm a bit nervous about closing a thread that @GrandOldTeam started but, now that the plane has flown, the thread seems to be have morphed into another board / stadium thread so I'm closing this until the next time we get a similar banner arranged praising a board member

... or until Danny re-opens it, whichever comes first
