Why couldn't it work? I think it completely makes sense that you'd have different levels of minimum wage based on the cost of living etc.

I know this is about the UK, but for example here in the US:

-Federal Minimum: $7.25/hr
-California Minimum: $9.00/hr
-San Francisco Min: $11.05/hr

None of these are living wages mind you...

Don't think it would work in the UK.

Would you put the same wage limit on everybody working in London, or just those who lived within the city, for example ?

Well...for example with my previous job...most of my employees in San Francisco commuted from the cheaper (still expensive) East part of the Bay Area. It was the only way I could recruit really...while it was minimum wage for the area, it was two dollars more per hour they could make working outside the city.

Havent seen the film and have never read the books but i just dont get the appeal at all. I really dont get how it's gotten as popular as it clearly has.

Moved out of home when I was 17, still at High School, failed my last year because of it, lived on part time wages whilst doing that. Went into full time work and worked my way from minimum wage to above average wage, bought a house at 25 and have a settled life at 29. No excuses, get off your arses and earn it.

Thats a crap argument. Plenty of people work very hard and dont earn enough.
I hate the "I've made it why cant you?" line. Its just shiite.
