Labour are the lesser of two evils. There is no real alternative, like it or not it's a straight choice between them or another 5 years of Cameron. (There may well be king makers but majority of power will be dictated by Lab/Con)

People are desperate for change, Clegg in 2010 had a real chance to spearhead a new era of politics. He had the younger generations flocking to vote Lib Dem, then he shattered their hopes and sold them down the river. If Clegg had rejected The Con/Dem coalition and forced the tories into a minority government im almost certain the Lib Dems would have continued to make big inroads - instead they are set to be decimated in 2015

UKIP are on the rise, the alarming thing about this is people are backing them based solely around their immigration policy, they enjoyed strong growing support in both Tory and Labour heartlands in the locals which is almost unheard of for a minority party. The casusal voter fed up with the status quo has been taken in by Farage, I just wish they'd take the time to scratch below the surface and see what he really stands for (Private Healthcare, Low Tax for the rich etc)

As you've probably guessed my views are left wing. I want to see economic wealth spread equally rather than concentrated in the south east and in my eyes the best way to do this is by ushering in a federal system which allows regions greater control over spending. Probably just a pipe dream, the establishment wont let their power drain away without a fight but we live in hope.

The election system itself is deeply flawed. Here in Liverpool we have little control over who gets in, the seats are all safe - the true battlegrounds are the swing seats which in relation to the population is a small %. Democracy ay **sighs

Labour.

As much as I think they're crap. I just think the others are worse.

Best of a bad bunch etc. And I wish they'd replace Wallac.. err, Miliband.

I don't understand why anyone from Liverpool votes for Labour while Miliband a member of the party. He poses with the Sun on a regular basis.

Never thought of that.

But what realistic alternative will oust the Conservatives?

Voted Lib Dem in the last GE

Then they joined up with the Tories

Will never vote for them again

Not a massive fan of Labour because they seem dedicated to eroding civil liberties with things like ID Cards and extra CCTV all over the place

The Tories anger my blood

The Greens are smug

UKIP are nutters

Think I'm going to spoil my ballot paper

After yesterday Mikey, I fear I have no-one to vote for. :(

Been a socialist all my life and I'm in my 50's, but anyone who thinks that the current Labour party is left-wing is £ucking deluded.

Billy Bragg for prime minister.

Now that my country elected to be led by Westminster, it would appear I'll be voting in this General Election.

I guess I'll be voting for the Greens, or perhaps the socialists if they get on the ballot paper.

Labour, the Conservatives, UKIP and the Lib Dems can suck it.

No tax on minimum wage?

Thank you, my friend. You told me to scratch below the surface and I really see what he stands for now. If this is in his manifesto I'm sure he'll be getting a fair few votes.

In all seriousness, what I'm getting at is that you shouldn't just make those general statements without providing even a smidgen of proof.

Liverpool is Labour's stronghold. If they were to get anywhere close to losing their safe seat they'd flip and it'd cause a swift change in policy. If you want a less neo-Tory Labour, they need to be given a kick up the backside.

The way I see it, people need to vote for the party most likely to beat Labour. You'd be looking at UKIP or the Greens. Ironically, voting Tory would probably result in a stronger Labour in the long run, as they'd really switch things up then.

Realistically, the next most likely party (after Labour) would be UKIP, but again, it's whether or not you'd see them as an improvement. I personally don't think their policies are anywhere near as bad as the Tories.

It depresses me that people just 'put up' with Labour to appose the Conservatives.

I'm not left wing by any stretch of the imagination, but I'd love to see a real workers party emerge.

As it stands, Labour are a middle class party that piggybacks on the back of working class voters - they deserve better.

I'll be honest I hadn't picked up on this new shift in tax policy, in the locals earlier this year he was pushing for a flat tax rate for all and that is what I was reffering to.

He does support private healthcare so I suppose in his utopia with the financial burden of the NHS gone he can afford a few tax breaks here and there to appease the working class.
