SUNDAY 15TH SEPTEMBER 2PM KO
WOMENS SUPER LEAGUE
EVERTON WOMEN 2 BRISTOL CITY WOMEN 0

Well after last week's 1st day win in the top flight, the 1st top flight win on the 1st day for 10 years - [we won 1st day in 2017 in spring series and 2016 1st day of WSL2], Everton were looking to make it 2 out of 2 at home and maybe go top for a short time v a Bristol City team who only have 1 win in there last 9 games since Feb and as you would guess that came v Everton in March 1-0 with Lucy Graham scoring the winner -[that goal below from march],she has now moved to Everton this summer,Everton have lost 3 of the last 4 home v Bristol City Women, Everton changed formation this game due to an injury to Forward Hannah Cain with attacking midfielder Clemaron making her full debut

The 1st big chance came for Everotn on 8mins when Magill stole the ball from a Bristol Defender Sargeant who was trying to let the ball go out, magill cut back inside and her shot was very well saved by city keeper Baggaley who has a good record of pen saves,Magill then seconds after that save saw a hot then blocked after Everton had made a decent start to the game, then on 20mins Bristol city really should have gone ahead with 2 chances in the space of 30 seconds, the 1st was Dyke down the right with a cross that Yana Daniels fired high and over, then right from our kick off the keeper made a pass that was to pike on the edge of the area that incepted by Wellings before Daniles one on one with the keeper saw her shot saved by Korpela's legs,on 33mins kelly shot wide on 36mins Humphrey's whipped pin-point cross from the right wing is headed inches wide by Wellings for Bristol she really should score - seconds later Pike's finds herself in a dangerous position other end but fails to hit the target with her shot. Kelly playing well then got her reward with 2 blinding goals in 3mins - the 1st on 43mins as she dispossesses Sargeant, went pass 1 Bristol city defender before firing the ball into the bottom corner off the post, before in injury time She then scored what is surely going to be her best goal ever with a wonder strike when with a 1st time shot from around 30 yards out,her shot flew into the top corner,it was surely a goal of the season contender and better than 3 great goals scored in last weeks 1st round,it was 2-0 HT

On 51mins Kelly was so close to her hattrick when she could in, in the area and Baggaley just about saved her shot over the bar,
a cut back across the box on 57mins was just about cleared by Bristol defender Dykes if not it was a tap in for Graham against her old team Mates, kelly after more great work tried her best to set up Kaagman on 67mins but her shot was blocked, then on 75 mins Kelly almost got her hattrick with a curling effort from about 25 yards out that hit the underside of the bar and deflected behind off the back of Baggaley. If that went in this would have been one of the best Hattrick of goals i would have seen any level any league, few mins later Wellings tested Korpela first, before Magill went other end and tested Baggaley but both easy saves,on 85mins not for the 1st time Everton were close to a 3rd when Kaagman's angled free kick caught the keeper out and hit the bar,it was a very well deserved win for Everton who made it 2 from 2 after only winning 3 the whole season last year and keeping 2 clean sheets in a row plus this put EVERTON TOP even for a hour or 2,they now have a 2 week league break and when they return they go up v man city another team with 2 wins from 2 and 2 clean sheets, but next week its cup action and a return to Birmingham were they won 1-0 last week

Willie Kirk praised his Everton side’s winning mentality after continuing their strong start to the FA WSL season with a 2-0 victory over his former club Bristol City Women.

Chloe Kelly’s first-half double saw the hosts claim back-to-back wins, having beaten Birmingham City Women 1-0 in their opening match last weekend, and Kirk pinpointed his players' improved mental toughness for their impressive start to the campaign.

Kirk said: “Getting that winning mentality is so important. In pre-season we stressed to the players to be passionate about the performance but still win and we went on to win six of our seven pre-season matches. I think that is a habit we’ve picked up which has helped us in winning our opening two league matches.

“It’s not a bad thing to have, that mentality of going onto the pitch and expecting to win.

“To get two clean sheets and two victories is obviously the perfect start for us. The performance last week could have been improved but the performance today was much better.”

The Everton manager made a raft of new signings this summer - including Netherlands and Finland internationals Kika van Es and Tinja-Riikka Korpela, Scotland's Lucy Graham, France's Maeva Clemaron, England youth international Molly Pike, and Esme Morgan on loan from Manchester City – and credited the new additions for helping create this improved mentality and winning start to the season.

Kirk added: “The players we’ve signed have come in, settled very quickly and showed the reasons why we signed them - but everyone has stepped up.

“We were really impressive with the ball today, we had a spell in the first half where we were excellent and then controlled the game very well in the second half. We’ve signed a lot of players who are comfortable on the ball and are tactically astute and that showed against Bristol today.”

Everton will be looking to extend their winning start to the season when they travel to face Birmingham City Women next Sunday in the Continental Cup.

Look at that table...a beauty from top to bottom!
These two early season wins are priceless before the inevitable fall begins. Livepool's fall in such a short time is staggering really. Looks familiar?
The biggest test to see how well they are doing will be v city in a few week, they only have a couple of defeats in a year, and we usually lose badly, lost last 9 to them,we probably will drop but if we can stick to playing how they are, they may not drop as much as we think

thatvtabke is only going to get worse for lady rs-ers, they've got Man U women wh9 are really unlucky not to have any points on the board. They gave City and Arsenal a tough game and have only conceded a worldie and a scrappy goal.
I see a big defeat. odds on they get relegated this season.

WOMEN'S CONTINENTAL LEAGUE CUP
BIRMINGHAM WOMEN 1 EVERTON WOMEN 0

It was the start of the Womens Continental cup today were Everton played the 1st of hopefully are going to be more than the 4 group games they have to play in a tough group, They were away to Birmingham Women a team they had beat just 2 weeks ago in the league 1-0 looking for a 3rd consecutive Victory overall which has not happened for 19 months, that 3 wins in a row back then consisted of 2 Womens FA Cup games [A different cup to this one] infact the 2 league wins we have so far is the only time Everton had actually won more than 1 game in a row since that 3 game winning streak

The 1st chance fell to Birmingham when Staniforth lofted the ball from the free kick on the edge of the box in and Harrop rose highest but could not steer the effort on target with it just going wide on 13 mins, 3 mins later and Everton with Kelly racing free down the right, saw her low shot very well saved by Hampton.Birmingham on 27mins then wanted a pen when Visalli cut in and was brought down before she could shoot ,but the Ref said no pen, Staniforth then saw her free kick go miles over for Birmingham on 38mins before right on HT she had another one that caused Everton problems, but it stayed 0-0 at half time,

The 2nd half a goal finally arrived on 73 mins when Sub Rachel Williamson on for 18 mins headed home a Staniforth Corner,it was close to 2-0 on 85 mins when Grant raced through and cut back onto her favoured right foot, her shot has the keeper well beaten but cliped the bar, Everton saw a late chance saved before Gabby George was sent tumbling in the box,but the ref said no pen again, but the game ended 1-0,this comp as well goes right to pen shoot out if a game ends level at 90mins gaining the winning team an extra point

Our next game in this comp is v Man utd in early November which if everything goes to plan will be the 1st game at Walton Park, but next week its the top 2 in the womens league as Everton Women play Host to Man city women

WOMENS SUPER LEAGUE
EVERTON WOMEN 0 MAN CITY WOMEN 1

It was the 3rd part of the trilogy of Everton v Man City this last few days [after u23s/Everton] and today it was the top 2 v each other as top placed Everton women were Home to City, City have only lost 2 league Games since May last year, both v Arsenal while Everton have a pretty bad record v City, Everton made 5 changes from last weeks cup defeat and reverted to more of a league team,It was a rain soaked day here at Southport, with puddles of water appearing on the pitch and in the early stages Everton were finding it hard to even get a hold of the ball, and so on 6mins it proved when from a free kick on the edge of the D, Steph Houghton's low free-kick around the wall found the keepers bottom left hand side which was the 1st goal Korpela had conceeded in this her 3rd game,it took Everton till the 15th minute to have a chance and it was a good chance With Captain Graham finding herself with the ball on the edge of the area in space and played in Magill on the right-hand side, but her shot was weak and straight at Roebuck, Molly Pike for Everton then had a long range shot on 20mins just go over,on 30mins it was close to 2-0 twice, the 1st chance an in swinging cross just missing the head of the forward while about 30seconds later, a Bremer curler around the Everton defender Van Es was finger tipped by korpela onto the inside of the post with the ball going along the line-it was a fantastic save, on 34 Cain for Everton had another long range shot for Everton just go over, thats all Everton were able to do up to this point after they slowly grew into this game, Bremer then had a header easy for Korpela but it was city who went into HALF TIME 1-0 UP

Everton went close early stages 2nd half to drawing level via Kelly who shot just wide of the keepers left hand post,it may have cliped the post on its way, before Magill had half a chance,on 70mins it should have been 2 when from a free kick on the left Ex Toffee Jill Scott side footed wide when in the box, on 72 mins a short corner led to a decent chance for Chloe Kelly who took aim and shot well wide, when a curler would have been better, but she went for power, Bremer then missed a chance to tie the game up when somehow she failed with a header in injury time, before on 93mins Everton came Agonisingly close when Lucy Graham had a header from a corner off the line,it was Citys 10th win in a row v Everton

There is now a 2 week league break were when Everton return they are away to Reading Women
