THE 2019/2020 EVERTON LADIES WOMENS SUPER LEAGUE & CUP GAMES

Everton striker Chloe Kelly has capped a fabulous start to the campaign by being crowned September’s Barclays Women’s Super League Player of the Month.
Kelly brilliantly scored twice in her team’s 2-0 win over Bristol City on 15 September as Everton started their WSL campaign with back-to-back victories.
She advanced to lash a right-foot shot in off the post from 20 yards for her first against Bristol at Southport.
With the dust settling on that strike, Kelly conjured an even better one, manufacturing a stunning first-time 30-yard hit which rocketed into the top corner and left goalkeeper Sophie Baggaley helpless.

“This award means a lot to me, it adds to my confidence and shows I have been working hard and doing the right things,” Kelly told evertonfc.com.
“It is another indication I am going in the right direction.

“The second goal against Bristol was one of the best I have scored.
“Because of the first one, when the second came to me I thought, ‘I am going to hit it’.
“I got a lot of power from a standing start and hit it well. I knew as soon as it left my foot it was going in.

Kelly is joint-top of the WSL scoring charts, tied on two with Pauline Bremer of Manchester City, Arsenal’s Danielle van de Donk and Norway and Chelsea midfielder Guro Reiten.
Tipped by club manager Willie Kirk to establish herself in the national team set-up, Kelly was called up by England boss Phil Neville for the Lionesses 1-0 friendly win over Portugal this week.

The 21-year-old didn’t add to her one senior international appearance against Austria last November but is eyeing next month’s prestige Wembley encounter with Germany as a potential chance to win cap number two.
“It was a great experience with England and an opportunity to learn from top players,” said Kelly, who is back in action for Everton on Sunday when Kirk takes his fourth-place side to Reading for the Blues’ latest WSL encounter.

“It is an environment where I thrive and I was buzzing when I was called into the squad.
“I thought I might get on when we were making some late substitutions but I will keep working hard at Everton and hopefully get my chance next time.
“It would be a dream come true to play at Wembley but I am focussing on my club. I will get my head down and keep doing what I am and, hopefully, that will be recognised.”

Chloe Kelly is the inaugural recipient of the Barclays Player of the Month award.
The monthly player and manager winners are chosen by the combination of a Barclays FA WSL Awards Panel featuring ex-players and managers, administrators, journalists and broadcasters who work across women’s football, and an online public vote.

SUNDAY 12TH OCTOBER 2PM KO
WOMENS SUPER LEAGUE
READING WOMEN 3 EVERTON WOMEN 2

After a 2 week break,Everton Women were back in League action and after a very good start of 2 league wins in a row, they have been brought back down to earth a little with 2 defeats in a row, One in the League a little unlucky v man city, and one in the cup, they were up against a Reading team who had won one [v Liverpool 1st day] and lost one in the league, but had won the previous and only 3 home games v Everton, it was a very windy day here at Adams Park on a day when Everton had 9 players only returning from International duty just Friday afternoon, Kaagman replaced Hannah Cain upfront was the only change from the last League game that 1-0 defeat to man city

Chloe Kelly had the 1st chance for Everton when her shot just went over the bar on 2mins,But it was Reading who took the lead on 6 mins when Fara Williams excellent free-kick was headed in by Jade Moore who beat the out comming Korpela on the pen spot to the ball, but Everton were quickly level just 3mins later when Magill saw her close range header saved after a up and under cross, that Chloe Kelly taped in to make it 1-1 for her 3rd goal of the season,Reading retook the lead on 17mins with the same combination this time Williams corner to the near post flicked in by Moore, but once again within mins Everton drew level when they were awarded a pen on 22mins which on field Captain Lucy Graham scored to the keepers right-keeper dived to her left-she turned 23 3 days ago, Reading had a 4 on 3 break on 28mins that they messed up a little when if the ball was played in better it could have been another goal, but was played to wide,Reading went close again a minute later when Ex Toffee Brooke Chaplen's cross/shot just went wide,Eikeland on 37mins then saw her header from a free kick just go wide of the Everton far post but set pieces were causing Everton problems while both defences were all over the place, but it was 2-2 at half in a great 1st half

Clemaron for Everton then had a decent chance go over,on 48 after good work down the left, Fara williams then had a free kick just left of the centre go over when shes so much better than that,Fara williams once again was close on 67mins when a cross from the left was hit 1st time by williams but went side netting,But for the 3rd time and not for the 1st time today Everton were undone by a set piece, this time Williams corner been missed by the keeper, with Lisa-Marie Utland getting her head to it to make it 3-2 on 69mins, but Finnigan for Everton on 75mins really should have made it 3-3 when she headed wide from the corner unchallenged, Fara williams on 78mins nearly scored direct from a corner but it landed on the roof of the net, unbelievably on 79 mins Chloe Kelly then missed one of the best chances of the game when one on one curling her shot wide from the edge of the area,But Everton lsot there 2nd league game in a row and 3 overall

There is now another 2 week break, were Everton are home to Brighton 2 weeks today with an 12.30pm ko

Kick off is 3pm,This game comes a week before Everton are due to start plying there home games at Walton Park,[but i think that move has been put back till mid December at earliest]

SUNDAY 27TH OCTOBER 12.30PM KO
WOMENS SUPER LEAGUE
EVERTON WOMEN 2 BRIGHTON WOMEN 0

Everton who have dropped slightly down the league after 3 consecutive defeats,2 of which have been in the league from the 4 league games played, were today up again Brighton Women who had yet to register a win after 2 draws and 2 defeats at Southport, the ground were the Everton u23s were called off yesterday on this bright sunny and warm day

Hannah Cain on 8mins had the best chance early in the game when she poked wide after a great through pass from kelly, she really should have at worst tested the Brighton keeper ,17 year old Maya Le Tissier no relation to matt then has a curler way wide and high after Everton made a mess up at the back on 10mins, Kelly on 20mins then saw her shot easily saved after a knockdown by cain but Everton were on top and looking more likely to score 1st, Bowman for Brighton then had a free kick just outside the area tipped over, routine save really, after the early pressure the game started to even out a little with Brighton getting back into it,Gibbons cross/shot on 35mins was easy for Everton keeper Korpela,Brazil then had a flicked header go wide but it had no real power to trouble the Everton keeper even if on target,Green then had a decent chance for Brighton saved by the feet of Korpela but it was 0-0 at half time

The 2nd half began and just 20 or so seconds into it,Hannah Cain seen her shot tipped onto the top of the bar by Megan Walsh, magill then beat the on comming Brighton keeper to the ball but she poked wide on 51, but on 57mins Everton finally got what they probably so far deserved overall when who else but Chloe Kelly scored finishing it will a low, narrow-angled shot into the far corner after a through ball , Green maybe should have made it 1-1 a minute later when she failed to score at the back post from a great free kick,Esme Morgan made it 2-0 for Everton on 66mins when she free at the back post headed home for her 1st Everton Goal since the on loan move from Man City ,that corner came from a great breakaway move that led to the corner, Le Garrec cross then lipped the top of the bar on 77mins for Brighton, sub Umotong then headed wide from a corner for Brighton,Ellie Brazil then had a tame 20-yard shot easy for the Everton keeper, Sub Boye-Holarkah then saw her shot just go wide after a great run before back down the other end and through on goal Umotong shot wide, but it ended with Everton claiming there 3rd win in 5 league games, they only won 3 the whole of last season, they are 3 points off top or 1 point off 2nd before weekends games are completed,

They now play man utd in the 2nd game of the wsl cup next sunday after they lost there 1st group game in septmebe, rthey really need to win that to stand a chance, before theres then a 2 week break with the Derby at Anfield been the 1st game back,Liverpool are bottom and still yet to win this season

SUNDAY 3RD NOVEMBER 12.30PM KO
WOMEN'S CONTINENTAL LEAGUE CUP
EVERTON WOMEN 0 MAN UTD WOMEN 3

Everton Women were playing there 2nd game of the Womens Continental League Cup today, and it was a must win even at this early stage or it would more than likely barring a miracle that Everton would be out with still 2 games to go

on 14mins Everton had a free kick on the right which Kelly took, and on the half volley Hannah Cain shot wide without any trouble for the man utd back line, Gabby George in the Everton back line nearly gifted man utd a chance when she let the ball bounce, but the man utd player couldnt get a shot off on 21mins,but just one minute later and George didnt get lucky twice, this time she came out defence, was tackled by Kirsty Hanson who fed Lauren James who shot top corner to give man utd the lead on 22mins,it should have been 2 on 28mins when Hanson with wonderful work off a quick restart set up a header for Millie Turner who 6 yards out had her header saved point blank by the Everton keeper, she knew nothing about it really and either side and it was a cert goal,Everton should have got back level on33mins when Hannah Cain robbed Abbie mcmanus to the left of the 18 yard box and with just the keeper to beat, she tried for the near post and saw her shot saved by Mary Earps, her shot was actually going wide anyway, when she should have gone the far post,Turner for man utd then had a free header over the bar on 44mins but it was 1-0 man utd at Half time

It was nearly 2 once again for man utd just 3mins into the 2nd half when a cross was half headed away by the Everton defence and Lauren James in the area didnt connect correctly with it but it beat the keeper and was cleared off the line, with the follow up shot from Leah Galton went over
Hanson on 66mins after been played thorugh then seen her shot saved by Korpela diving out to save it,it was a good save,But right down the other end and Everton via Kaagman after the ball bounced over the man utd back line should have made it 1-1 when one on one with the keeper she shoots right at the man utd keeper - it almost looked like she didnt know the man utd keeper was comming out to save the chance,it finall became 2-0 on 77mins when Gabby geogre completed her hattrick of mistakes when she made the foul on Lauren James for the pen which was rightly give, the pen was scored by Kaite Zelem who just about beat korpela,on 83mins it should have been 3 when Hanson holding off the Everton defence, saw her shot parried by the Everton keeper before gathering on the second attempt.but few mins later it did become 3-0 on 86mins when Amy Turner running down the wing, with 2 players in the box outnumbering the everton players, went for the shot that beat the keeper near post when on one was expecting the shot,it all ended on an even worst note for Everton when chloe kelly got her 2nd yellow to be sent off in the last minute which means she misses the merseyside Derby
