THE 2020/2021 EVERTON LADIES WOMENS SUPER LEAGUE & CUP GAMES

Not a great day (weekend to be honest) for the ladies....seems 4-0 was a little harsh in the grand scheme of things. Always knew today would be tough but looking optimistically reflects what a cracking victory that was against Chelsea in the cup. Hope they can re-group from these two disappointments...
Yep, I expected a defeat but the way the 1st goal came about ,the way the game was going and the way we conceeded the final 3 goals mostly after we missed the big chance's we got all seemed to make that lost worst to me, They basically capitalized on our misses by scoring within minutes,
I expect a win v Reading which is usually full of goals between us, were we have scored 3 at home each of the last 3 v them, in the 4.30pm saturday ko

Yeah. I read about the first goal before I saw it, and to be fair Sandy was a little unlucky as the clearance wasn't terrible when it hit the Chelsea attacker. We did seem to be slow getting back to react to it. Unlucky on the goal where MacIver made a great save pushing the initial effort onto the bar, and the third had an element of luck with it pin-balling around in the box. However, having said all that you do make your own luck, and you pay if you don't take your chances. I've been thinking all week how close was Gauvin's header last week right after we equalized (I guess a cynic would point out City hit the bar in the last minute).....I like Willie Kirk though am always a little sceptical (even though I said it above :)) when folks say it was never a 4-0 though to give him his due he did qualify the comments saying there was a 5 minute meltdown and highlighting the deficiencies at the back in defending the crossfield ball....back at them next Saturday I hope......

I am just happy the boss says it how ive said it before he does his Interview lol, it shows ive always watched the same game as they see it lol, not like some of these mangers that come out giving a complete different Interview to the game you just seen that have you wondering what they have been watching

Future career opportunity :) !!!! Though absolutely know where you're coming from. There's absolute truth to that old saying around "did you watch the same game I did ??".....have a great week...

Valerie Gauvin looks to be out till after Christmas with a Muscle injury, not sure how its a muscle Injury when she went to see a Knee Specialist last week, Big miss for the big summer star signing. she will miss 7 games in total including the chelsea defeat last week, seems big injurys dont just happen to the Everton 1st team but now go to the Everton women lol, anyway for those that dont know the Everton women's game v Reading saturday at 4.30 is on BBC Red BUTTON, BBBC Website etc

SATURDAY 14TH NOVEMBER 4.30PM KO
WOMENS SUPER LEAGUE
EVERTON WOMEN 1 READING WOMEN 1

After 2 unfortunate defeats v Man City in The FA Cup final and Chelsea last week in the league, 4th placed Everton were today on "Women's Football Weekend" looking for their 1st league win at the 3rd attempt at Home to a Reading team that had also not won in there last 3 league games-Both teams actual last league win came against west ham 4 days apart in early october, this was a chance for Everton to make a bigger gap to the teams below them with Reading been in 6th place 5 points behind Everton - it would also mean Everton go 2nd for the day with a win or even back to top place depending on the outcome of the Manchester Derby [That game ended 2-2 after man utd came from 2 down], This was a game that if it carried on in sequence would mean an Everton win as the home team have won the last 7 games all comps-6 in league, with Everton scoring 3 goals each of there last 3 home games v Reading, this was usually a high scoring game with 3-1s,3-2s, usually the outcome. Everton were unbeaten at home in their last three games (W2 D1), the best run in the WSL since May 2013 when they went 9 unbeaten at home, Everton’s Izzy Christiansen would probably be the crucial player here as she had so far created more chances than any other WSL player this season with 21, she had also played the most passes into the opposition’s box with 54, with only 2 other WSL players having more assists than her. After this game there would again be another 3 week league break from which they would return from v Man City at Walton Park on 6th December, so a win was vital here today, Everton had also scored 16 goals from 33 shots on target, from a total of 89 shots attempted, which is actually one of the best in the league. Everton came into the game making only 1 sub which was Egurrola droping to the bench for the returning Captain Lucy Graham, there was also a place on the bench for the 1st time in the WSL for Anna Pedersen who is a young talented 18 year old Keeper, she has once been a sub in a conti cup game in December last year

Everton should have been 1-0 ahead on 40 seconds when Nicoline sorensen missed a sitter at the back post after a cross from Simone magill came through to Sorensen [chance below]. but she blasted over from close range, on 7mins Everton then had another half chance when Claire Emslie had a scuffed shot deflected wide for a corner that came to nothing, while a minute later Sorensen had a shot deflected over, Reading had their 1st sight of goal on 21mins when Jess Fishlock shot from an angle through a pile of players but MacIver got her body behind it with players running across her, Raso on 30 then had a curler well wide while Angharad James shot wide from 25 yards down the other end for Reading, Ex Toffee Brooke Chaplen then hit a low effort wide across goal on 37mins, But Everton did take the lead on 38mins when a sweet little clever pass by Claire Emslie set Sorensen up down the right who breezed into box. Her effort was kept out by the Reading keeper, but it springs up and Magill is well placed to head home, but the lead didnt last long only 3mins infact when Tash Harding had a cross that flew over the Everton keeper wind assisted or was it a shot, either way Maclver had no chance with it and it was 1-1 on 41mins for Hrading's 1st goal since may last year, Bar the Everton goal the only real chance Everton had was that 1st minute chance in a very scrappy game on a wet and windy wild afternoon but it was 1-1 at Half Time

Everton were so close to going back ahead on 48mins when a cross from the right via Raso was somehow cleared over her own bar by Rachel Rowe inside her own 6 yard box, One of the floodlights then went out though there was enough light to continue, maybe related to the previous damage at Walton Hall Park last week, on 55mins Izzy Christiansen sliced an effort wide from the edge of the box after excellent play by Sorensen down the left who nutmegged Rachel Rowe before the pull back, she was on the fall to be fair before the shot was took, Reading very nearly took the lead on 62mins when From a Fara Williams free kick Kristine Leine headed just wide of the far post, On 70mins Emslie not connecting well headed wide following a cross from the left after more good work from Sorensen, on 76mins Wold crossed for magill but it was very easy for the keeper, everton then had 2 chances in a minute with Finnigan seeing her shot blocked by Fishlock followed by a shot over from wold, Everton very nearly won it with the last touch when Meg Finnigan saw her header brilliantly saved by Moloney by her fingertips, but the game ended in a frustrating draw in a game they did not play at their best for a 2nd consecutive home league draw after Brighton that moves Everton to 3rd maybe only for today , its mersey Derby next LIVE on LFC wedneday in a must win for Everton in the Conti Cup
