Weird how the women's team won their first 4 games but are now winless in their last 3.
said the same for a little while, both didnt win the 5th game, both scores the same [Everton 2-2 v Liverpool] and Everton women [2-2 v Brighton]
Both have not won in there last 4 all comps, while the u18s also have lost last 3 league games, we seem to do everything all together from top to bottom lol Worst thing for the women is 2 of their next 3 league games they can easily lose, [home v Man city on 6th december/away to Arsenal 20th december]

WEDNESDAY 18TH NOVEMBER 7PM KO
FA WOMEN'S CONTINENTAL LEAGUE CUP
EVERTON WOMEN 1 LIVERPOOL WOMEN 0

Everton came into this Game knowing it was not just a local Derby, but an absolute Must win game to stand any chance of getting through to the next stage, Defeat would have them out, while a draw would give them the very, very slim chance of going through as one of the two 2nd best teams from the 6 groups. though that looks very unlikely with the way things stood even this early before the game [but due to one odd group only results against teams in 1st and 3rd count, results against bottom side will be discounted in each group in working out the 2 best runners up so a little complicated]. Everton have not won in their last 4 games all comps since a win v West Ham on 11th Ocotber and as expected there were changes as the boss has always said this is a comp to test formations out and to give certain players more playing time that dont get minutes in. Everton have won 3 of the last 4 Derby's with only 1 defeats in 5 that been a last day defeat in may 2019, There would be a 3 week break after this so a win would give the Everton fans something to be happy about for a few weeks, Everton came into the game making 6 changes tonight to the game v Reading at the weekend with Grace Clinton a 17 year old midfielder making her Debut in this the 1st Derby at Walton Park a full year and 1 day since the last Derby played at Anfield

Everton in the early stages were Controlling the game and it was Everton who took the lead on 6mins when a long pass from Sevecke found Boye-Hlorlah who's persistant fighting thought the Liverpool defence payed off when the ball fell Kindly to Izzy Christiansen who oddly was left out the England women's squad this week despite been one of the stand outs in the WSL this season with stats backing that up, the 1st 20mins were all Everton who had total dominance, it was so close to a 2nd on 22mins when a Poppy Pattinson cross nearly drifted in to the far post but just went wide with Moly Pike arriving at the back post, Liverpool had a little half chance when a free kick was headed by Leighanne Robe but very easy for Korpela, followed by a free kick about 25 yards out high and over from Fahey, on 30mins Liverpool via Babajide won the ball high up and layed it off to Thestrup who fired at goal but Korpela held on[chance below]. Everton were beginning to lose the ball a lot after taking it a little easy the last 5mins, but it should have been 2-0 to Everton on 34mins when Lucy graham got the pass through to young Grace Clinton and the 17 year on her debut on the right with just the keeper to beat hit it wide of the far post, on 41mins Christiansen had a half volley in the Liverpool area but doesn't time it quite right and gets underneath it and fires over and wide, Furness was close for Liverpool when from a corner on 42mins she was found at the back post but scuffed at the shot which went wide, but it was 1-0 to Everton at half time who after been well on top early on then took it easy and let Liverpool a little back into it

It was a quiet start to the 2nd half bar a Furness lunging challenge on Christiansen which led to a yellow on 60mins, but on 61mins from a Great free-kick whipped in by Christiansen, Boye-Hlorkah could not keep her effort down from 12 yards and it rises high over the bar. it was pretty much Everton in control without really showing their authority, on 77mins Poppy Pattinson shot from range but it went wide of the mark, but somehow in the space of 2mins Everton went so close when 1st from Some sloppy play from Liverpool which gifted Everton a chance but it's cleared off the line by ex toffee Hinds from a Hayley Raso shot who had been on a matter of seconds, then Egurrola got on the end of a cross, it's not the cleanest of connections but then it's cleared of the line by Hinds after the header droped onto the post 1st, then on 84mins again somehow Everton failed to score when Raso was free on the right with ball and played it into the middle but Sorensen meet the cross but somehow shot over the bar [chance below]. Again on 88mins Everton managed to not score when a Raso shot was well saved after the keeper punched it out [chance below]. Everton had nearly scored more in the last 10mins than the whole game after the main players in Raso and Sorensen had came on, but it was Everton winning the Derby which was more than deserved overall were the one should have been more in a game the Class of the WSL side showed through

Nice one. Good to get out of a bit of a rut and get back to winning ways......much the better team tonight from what i heard but at 1-0 you always fear that anything could happen at the other end. To be fair to Reading at the weekend, I actually thought the draw was probably a fair result though neither team was helped by the weather, and their keeper made that terrific stop right at the death. I don't think the same was the case tonight with the much better team getting the win they deserved. Thanks for getting this posted so quickly !!

I felt we were really only under any pressure from around the 20min markish when we give the ball away a lot for a little bit of time but then it was us mostly that half, for me we were really in control that 2nd half and i didnt fell worried at all, but like you say at 1-0 anything can happen, and like you say about Reading i agree with you and the boss the way Reading defended and deserved the point for that

Willie Kirk:
I thought we looked comfortable with a back three. Young Molly and Poppy did really well in the wing-back positions. They held their lines really well and kept their shape. That was a real positive

Willie Kirk:
I think if we had lost tonight there would have been pressure on me too! It was good that we got through that. We had to win tonight for three reasons - stay in the cup, it’s a derby & the run of results we had been on. Drawing and losing was not an option.

Alex Morgan's not having a good time of it at Spurs is she? Hardly played so far, the team is awful and tonight she missed a deciding penalty. Only a glorified pre-season for her I know but so far they're getting very little out of the deal so far.

Nope, not played anywhere near as much as i expected when spurs made that star signing, i almost think it was just made to get spurs name in the press more type of thing as i dont get why sign someone like that and never play them, though to be fair she was injured plus the virus meant she was out a year

I also forgot to say that us winning this Derby knocked Liverpool out this comp ;)
