It's getting underway soon! I'm cautiously optimistic that Carlton will finally play finals footy this year. I think the blues will finish around 8th to 10th.

But really i think they could be another two to three years away from winning the competition outright.

Playing finals footy all depends on how quickly the players get used to the new coaches ideas.

Melbourne Western Bulldogs Brisbane Lions and Port Adelaide are certainties to play finals footy imo.

The late and great Shane Warne was a massive St Kilda fan. He played for their reserves and u19's as well, before he gave up footy for the cricket.

He never did get to see his beloved saints win that flag, but they came oh so close in 2009 and 2010!

But i'm going to play the St Kilda theme song now as a tribute to the great man. Rest easy Shane.

At least when Carlton finish bottom they don't get relegated, you get a metaphorical wooden spoon instead!

It's been twenty years now since Carltons first ever wooden spoon in it's history, and there was another four of them in 2005 2006 2015 and 2018.

I do feel thought that after twenty years in the wilderness, that Carlton are ready to emerge as a premiership contender again in the next two to three years.

Two to three years?

Very optimistic mate. Would love it, but don't see it.

March 16th Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs is the season opener, in a repeat of last years grand final. Then on St Patricks day we have Carlton and Richmond. Perhaps this might be the year, the Blues finally get one over the Tigers hopefully!

Carlton 101 Richmond 76, that's the Blues first win over the Tigers since that 2013 elimination final. Great start to the season that is. Now let's hope that Everton do the business later on this evening.

The Western Bulldogs, who are still smarting from another defeat to the Demons are up next. Melbourne won the season opener grand final rematch by 97 points to 71.

Richmond are the team i dislike the most after Essendon. So yeah it's great to finally beat those Tigers! Richmond of course missed the finals last year as well. Is the Tigers dynasty over, or will the empire strike back i wonder?
