The Absolute State of This Club

Horrible club with very little going for it now sadly, we've become a proper laughing stock.

With the morale and general can't be arsed attitude from the current squad I think relegation is a very real possibility this season, it'd be nothing less than we deserve either.

Remember when they got the FSW to manage us and the message was along the lines of "drastic steps must be taken"? Didn't realize they were so hell bent on the Championship with that inference.

The club is a mess from top to bottom and nothing improves until serious changes of personel are made.

There's been no effort this summer to overhaul the squad so we are going backwards quickly this year. Players who have failed repeatedly for years are being given yet more chances under a manager who's best days were 15 years ago. Its a truly pathetic state of affairs.

This has been said for as long as I can remember and look where we are, what a very undignified end its going to be for the club when it comes.

Also this is all the fans fault, all you “it’s not my money so why do I care?” when we were wasting stupid money on utter crap like Bolasie and Iwobi. Our record signing is a notable one not competing enough, which shows with the rest of the squad.

So to sum up, it’s all the fans fault, you’re all accepting Benitez now too for some reason.
Whether we accept Benitez or not it won’t make a difference to the owner clearly.
How’s it the fans fault? ?

Comes from the top.

There is no magic or stardust required to make football clubs good.

Quite a simple formula: appoint people who agree what good football teams play like and give them time and money to make it happen. It is what every successful club does. They know what a Manchester City or Leicester City midfielder needs to be able to do. They then shop for players who play like that and know they'll fit in with the rest of their squad. If you don't have that agreement you are screwed, and we are screwed.

Getting it right takes an owner who doesn't have a massive ego and doesn't regard it as his train set. Owners like this are really rare. We haven't got one.

I’m sure plenty of effort is being expended, but we have a lot of unshiftable players coupled with financial restrictions on the club and a general down turn in football revenue. That effort is not published or talked about. It is all done behind the scenes and the club dont give a running commentary.

I judge them by their actions and achievements. As yet, nothing has been done to improve the squad. Poor players have not been moved on and no quality has been brought in.

How can anyone at the club be happy with this squad? Why are they unable to do anything to improve the scenario? How can our squad be so unbalanced and lacking in key areas 7 days from kick off?

I want answers to these questions. I want to know why nothing has been done yet.

Other than the three players already acquired on free transfer and the nominal fee to Byer Leverkusen, there is simply no more available budget for further additions unless loans or freebies.

We need to offload a number of highly (overpaid) players to greatly reduce the current wage bill but, those salary packages are the primary reason those players are unlikely to be sold. Other then the 'big six' most clubs cant; afford to/won't pay fees and exhorbitant wages for players who aren't good enough.

We're paying the price for five and half years of largely terrible transfer market business and the crazy wages we've stitched ourselves up with.

And it's much easier said than done to even think about buying players out of their contracts - the players are under no obligation to accept a vastly reduced amount to leave than they're entitled to under the terms of their contracts.
