Nearly the 1st Ashes hat-trick since Darren Gough in Sydney in '99

Onions to Clarke, no run, that wasn't far away at all! A quick bouncer, misdirected down the leg side, and Clarke wasn't far away from gloving that

Onions has certainly got the Aussie batsmen pickled this morning....

Onions to Ponting, OUT, got him! He's out! A quick bouncer, Ponting went for a hook and got a thin edge through to Prior. Onions has bowled so, so well this morning

RT Ponting c †Prior b Onions 38 (47b 5x4 0x6) SR: 80.85

Anderson to Clarke, OUT, oh he's got him! A huge inswinger here, curves late and strikes Clarke on middle and leg, Rudi Koertzen lifts the finger

MJ Clarke lbw b Anderson 29 (55b 4x4 0x6) SR: 52.72

Another chance for a hat-trick....

Anderson to Johnson, OUT, oh he's gone too! Swings back in to Johnson, who is in two minds whether to leave it - he does leave it - and it hits him above the knee-roll

MG Johnson lbw b Anderson 0 (1b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

Anderson to North, OUT, wonderful catch! Prior makes a super take diving to his left across first slip. Fullish ball swinging away from North, who got a thick edge to one that he might have left alone

MJ North c †Prior b Anderson 12 (49b 1x4 0x6) SR: 24.48

This is something . I fukn swapped tickets today for Day 4 Leeds - the day , not speaking too soon , that we could win the Ashes . Still , always go ON your birthday .
Rule No.1 .
Doh !!!

Come on England !!!

And that'll be lunch. Phew. What a session for England, they picked up 7 for 77, with Onions picking up three and Anderson four. Remember to trot across to the lunchtime chat.

Anderson to Manou, OUT, wow! What a delivery! Anderson comes a touch wider and gets the ball to straighten and it comprehensively smashes Manou's off stump, that is almost the perfect ball.

GA Manou b Anderson 8 (11b 2x4 0x6) SR: 72.72

Anderson has his 7th 5 for.............

Anderson to Siddle, OUT, fantastic delivery, swinging in, then straightening a touch on the right-hander who tries to work it through midwicket but gets a thick outside edge for Anderson's five

PM Siddle c †Prior b Anderson 13 (26b 2x4 0x6) SR: 50.00

Your commentry of the cricket is a masterful plan to quickly reach your one million pounds valuation (y)

The Ashes battle is hotting up on the airwaves as well as the pitch after a falling out between Matthew Hayden and Geoff Boycott on the opening day at Edgbaston while working for Test Match Special. Hayden, who has joined for the rest of the summer, said Boycott's batting style "emptied cricket grounds" and Boycott promptly stormed out of the commentary box saying "don't need comments like that at my stage." They shook hands later, but the atmosphere is likely to be deliciously frosty

Going on Geoff!!!

So close to the end of the innings......

Onions to Hilfenhaus, 1 run, short of a length, he mis-hooks it out to extra cover and Bopara's giving chase and ought to take it comfortably. But drops it! What a clanger. Bopara's having a rubbish series, to be honest; he looks a distracted figure in the field and his fielding hasn't been blemish-free all series

Ha ha, forgot all about that challenge. Don't think I will make it before I'm off for three weeks. Hopefully more action in the cricket this afternoon will help though. But I do not want to be reporting on England wickets falling like the Aussie one's!!!

More dodgy calls here folks.

Over and around the stumps...Umps getting the LBW's all over the shop

Can see these two putting on about 50/60 runs before we manage to get the last wicket. Come on lads need to get this last one, so this mornings work is not wasted.
