OK so you read it, but you’re not capable of understanding, I see now.
Nothing wrong with lower league fans at all, hence my comparison being them ‘enjoying their day out in an fa Cup 3rd round game’. The inference being that fans who go to the game fully expecting to get thrashed but just glad to have the experience are likely to create much more of a carnival atmosphere than those who are going to the game expecting to win and/or be entertained.
Again, I didn’t suggest I was better than anyone, simply that certain behaviour makes me cringe. I don’t take it back, if I’m ever at an Everton game where we start singing ‘we’re going to win 6-5’ when 5-0 down i’ll Be ashamed of my fellow blues, and I’m not sorry if that offends you.
The poster I was replying to suggested there was no point in going to the game if you didn’t want to sing etc, I was just saying that wasn’t my take on it, but I quite clearly said if that’s what you want to do then fine. I’m well capable of understanding that we’re not all the same you see.
I’ve been to football games where Everton aren’t playing, to rugby games or the darts. At those I’ve been more than happy to have a few drinks and sing/cheer/whatever throughout, because I’m just having a laugh. At goodison though, I’m emotionally invested in the game. At times I’m too nervous to sing, at times I feel like I’ve been punched in the stomach, and at times I’m just too pissed off with them to get behind them.
I love my wife but I don’t need to tell her 10,000 times a day in order for her to function properly. If a bunch of millionaires need that sort of reassurance from me to produce their best, they’re going to be sorely disappointed.
