…1 game was surely enough to determine he’s not got much of a clue, mind you neither has Moshiri.
Not to pick on you specifically Mr Eggs, I generally agree with you but I'm not sure exactly where this narrative has come from. Ok, I can see the argument that he should have started Gordon over Townsend and arguably Patterson over Kenny but I'm giving Dunc a bit of leeway on that and assuming that Patterson maybe wasn't quite up to speed yet.

Apart from those 1 and half issues, what exactly did Dunc do wrong?

Here Dunc…..

He watched Rafael win one game out of 12 playing 442 then did the exact same only with a worse lineup

I'd argue that Benitez's team with Keane and Coleman removed is instantly better but maybe that's just me. Assuming you think he should have played a 3 man midfield, who do you think should have been the mythical 3rd man?

He’s very bitter towards Duncan Ferguson for some reason he always slates him I think he’s one of them who hates that Ferguson was popular because he wasn’t a real hero like the ones he had in the 20s.

Allan from the start, Onyango, Gbamin all on the bench. Only with hindsight was doucoure injured, it wasnt a mythical 3rd man if theres 3 on the bench.

Keane and Coleman removed would've been better if he didn't pick Godfrey at LB and Kenny at RB.

I agree. Gordon has had documented issues completing 90 mins this season. We don't know if that was the reason or not that he was left out of the starting line up. Bit harsh to have a go at the manager for that based on 1 match I think. It wasn't a high quality performance but if we took our chances we could have won that game with a clear margin in the end.

Allan also has fitness problems. Gbamin is poor. Onyango a raw 18 year-old. I think there are mitigating circumstances for the line-up that was picked.

I'm with you that i'd have played 3 in the middle, i've said it all season so it'd be hypocritical to argue otherwise now. I think it all hinges on how fit Allan was though to be fair, neither Gbamin nor Onyango have shown enough to suggest they should be starting in my opinion so if Allan was fit enough to start he should have done but if not I can see why he didn't play either of the others. Also Mykolenko was supposedly injured, so he didn't really have any choice other than Godfrey at left back if that was the case.

I don't see why mykolenko was at goodison if he was injured though

Injured players still attend home games and away games to suppprt the team. Happens at every team. The other possibility is he was there as a reserve player, Incase a player got injured from the match day squad while warming up.

….I was very surprised Kenny and Holgate got anywhere near a starting place. It’s all about opinion, but mine is that neither should be included unless there is a raft of injuries.

This was his best shot at getting a victory, a home game after Benitez has been sacked with Gerrard in the opposite dug out, the fans up for a fight & he got the formation & selection dreadfully wrong. This is a bloke who supposedly works with the players on a daily basis, it was an opportunity to be fresh and innovative.

i really have my doubts about him, Managers rarely seem to seek his counsel & he doesn’t appear to take many training sessions other than the shoot-out at the end of daily training.

There were reports Carlo wanted to bring him to Madrid with him I think.
