The bomb shelter thread.

So when it comes to the draft I understood vaguely how the picks work but how many picks do you actually get? What’s a reasonable amount of new players for the average club across one draft?
Each sport has a different number of rounds. It’s roughly tied to how many players you have in your pro system.

- The NBA has 15-player rosters, so the draft is only two rounds. So-called “lottery” picks (the very top picks made by teams that did not make the playoffs) are where most of your big stars come from. Most first-round picks will have at least a decent NBA career, and you’re hoping the second-round pick does too, but expectations are lower.

- Football and hockey are seven rounds each and both have around 50 total players. The NFL has one active roster. In hockey it’s 50-50 between the NHL team and their affiliate team in the AHL, which is like a cross between a U23 team and a reserve team. The majority of NFL draftees go on to play for their team and many high picks have a big, immediate impact. In hockey there are usually a few hotshot prospects who go straight to the NHL, but most of them start in the minors to keep developing. After the first 2-3 rounds of the NHL draft you’re really just hoping for diamonds in the rough.

- Baseball has the biggest draft because each MLB team has a whole network of minor league teams to fill. The draft is normally 40 rounds long, but you are actually not allowed to sign anyone straight to the majors. Even the very top picks go to the minors to adjust to pro ball for a year or two… so it doesn’t give you immediate help like the other sports’ drafts.

Really thorough explanation mate thank you. So in baseball the minors is basically the U23’s. I take it trade draft picks comes through other moves that might occur throuout the year. For example a top 3 team want the player of a lower placed team and they’ll give them cash and their first round pick? So does that team then get 2 first round picks?

What’s happening in the shelter?
Came in for some Frazzles, a Wispa, can of lilt ( and some poppers, if I’m honest) and the shelves are full of Oreo’s, Lay’s, Hershey’s and root beer.
Time to restock, who’s slacking on the orders? :D

Big Oil may have sent in infiltrators.

May be time for a full and comprehensive security review

It is still utterly utterly mental out there isn't it?

Everyone firing off at each other. More than usual. Few interesting 'new posters' too.

Just wait until we inevitability lose the first game of the season lol

All joking apart, all this hate isn’t healthy at all.

Like virtually everyone else, I’m not happy with the appointment, but it is what it is and it’s time to move on.

Let’s face it, he can’t be worse than Koeman or Allardyce, can he

This is it, pointless fuming, it's done and we need to get behind it and not be toxic

I agree,

But, I'm not even at the stage where I can look at his face or listen to what he has to say.

At least with Koeman we were filled with the hope of a new dawn, and with Sam we knew he'd turn us around and begone.
Benitez just feels like a punch in the face from the Club.

I'm more annoyed at the club than Benitez personally.

I am genuinely curious to see how the squad react. Not known for their positive attitude in testing times shall we say.
