The Bryan Oviedo fanboy thread

He's been out injured for the best part of 20 months, with an initial horrific break and then other assorted problems that regularly occur after long term injuries. That's a problem.

But I never said he was useless.

I think some drastically over rate him because of a few decent games and a high profile goal, but he's a decent squad option. But like I said with 1 year left, his injuries over the last two season and a young leftback just signing a long term deal now would be the sensible time to move him on really.
I know you never called him useless, but most act that way with our injured players.

Dont think he really was overrated, the fact was he came in during a ridiculously difficult run in and bossed it, deserved to keep the position when baines came back. When he came back from the leg break he was impressive for a few games and our best player against chelsea when he done his hammy.

Loves the club, still young, can play either flank defensively or more forward, wont be on mad wages, should be kept on.

And still Oviedo > floppy haired judas

Oh dear Dither, you're talking about him as though he's worse than Gibson or AVDM, he went down on the pitch for the team ffs, and has shown plenty of potential, or more precisely, was integral to most of the good football we played in a record Premiership points tally. WUM maybe ?

He is, you should see him in the Howard thread

Then why let his contract get to 12 months to run ??

Maybe they want to see him get fit, then offer him a deal.
Id imagine there would have been some talks started already about new contract, its not really an overnight thing, this sort of stuff goes back and forth for months

Just show me what I said that's a wind up? Has he been MIA for the best part of 2 years with various injuries? Has he only got a year left on his current deal? And have we not got the best left back in the league and just signed a young promising english defender to the club for 5 years?

This would be the ideal time to sell him if someone wanted to take a gamble on his fitness.

Just because you don't agree with a person doesn't necessarily make them a WUM that's just a cheap throw away shot when you can't actually debate anymore.

It's mainly the emotive terminology you have used in an attempt to support your presuppositions.

Has he been MIA for the best part of 2 years with various injuries?
Why not just say 1 1/2 years ? MIA ??? Injured.

Has he only got a year left on his current deal?

Perhaps there's an option, I don't know, but this isn't relevant to whether or not one feels we should keep him, is it ?

And have we not got the best left back in the league and just signed a young promising english defender to the club for 5 years?
Baines won't be around forever, and we need competition. Bryan's also versatile.

This would be the ideal time to sell him if someone wanted to take a gamble on his fitness.
Not with one year on his contract, unless you think he's toilet. Obviously the medical staff have an idea of his state of readiness/biomechanical ability to recover fully.

There was no debate Dougie, because it appears you have a position that in unassailable to logic.

What presumptions? Are you saying he's not got a year left? And he hasnt been injured for most of the last 2 years with one thing or another?

Of course only having a year left on his contract is relevant to whether we try and sell him now, in case you missed the last 15 years Everton aren't the sort of club that's got an endless pot of gold to dig into and potentially a £?m asset will be worthless in 12 months time and we can't as a business let that happen.

Baines is just turning 30 he's far from nearing the end of his career, besides being one of the fittest players we've ever had at the club, I don't know why your trying to write him off so easily.

His ability to recover has already fallen down a few times. This time last year we were being told he'd be ready for the World Cup, then due to various setbacks he couldn't even make the Everton squad for another 5 months , and as soon as he did he broke down again, and has done a few times since then.

I think your logical is well out if you can't see all that as indisputable to be honest, but it seems you're to blinded by a few good games and a winning goal. As Ive said time and again he's a good squad player but given the circumstances now would be the ideal time to sell him really.
