What presumptions? Are you saying he's not got a year left? And he hasnt been injured for most of the last 2 years with one thing or another?

Of course only having a year left on his contract is relevant to whether we try and sell him now, in case you missed the last 15 years Everton aren't the sort of club that's got an endless pot of gold to dig into and potentially a £?m asset will be worthless in 12 months time and we can't as a business let that happen.

Baines is just turning 30 he's far from nearing the end of his career, besides being one of the fittest players we've ever had at the club, I don't know why your trying to write him off so easily.

His ability to recover has already fallen down a few times. This time last year we were being told he'd be ready for the World Cup, then due to various setbacks he couldn't even make the Everton squad for another 5 months , and as soon as he did he broke down again, and has done a few times since then.

I think your logical is well out if you can't see all that as indisputable to be honest, but it seems you're to blinded by a few good games and a winning goal. As Ive said time and again he's a good squad player but given the circumstances now would be the ideal time to sell him really.

Unless he's been written off by the medic's, selling him with only one year left would be odd.

I don't.

But there's been nothing in the media about one and as a rule these things are never allowed to run into the last 12 months without some sort of offers made as you well know.
The media dont pick up on every single contract negotiation. Both sides seem to be pretty calm about this, id imagine theres been some discussion between them behind the scenes

I agree with you Doug is he even fit? Nothing from the club, it's a shame , but is Ovideo crocked?

I think he's on the way back Joe. The last 2 years have been rough on him just at the wrong time really, sadly we've seen this sort of thing before.

The problem is we're over stocked at leftback and he's down to his final 12 months, do we gamble on him proving his fitness or try and get some much needed cash in?

Tough choice, but removing sentiment there's only one obvious answer I think.

Yes there is. If he's recovered from injury extend his contract to cover /rotate with Baines whilst Luke gains experience elsewhere
