The Championship

I'm sure you've seen the stats regarding the queue for season tickets actually increasing. If they are correct the Old Lady will see full houses as I reckon the other clubs will be treating their games at GP as days out, novelty factand all that.
We get what we deserve.

Yup. The table doesn't lie.
Sad to admit it now, but looking back to our glorious night against Palace, what was to have been a pivotal moment in our history where the club learned from its mistakes was nothing but a mirage.
Will shed a tear or two in private if we get relegated but we can't say we haven't seen it coming.
It's what we do if it happens that will determine if we are the big club we claim to be.

Yeah, I'm with you. This is precisely where I am now.

I see others calling for "fight" and blue flares, but, honestly, good luck to them. You can make a fool of me once - or maybe even two or three times if we include 94 and 98 - but I've had my full. All the self-congratulatory blue smoke bombs and survival parties in the world won't keep this rabble up this time round, I fear.

I've posted on here a few times saying how the Palace result gave me more pleasure than when I've been there seeing us win the league and cups, and that still rings true. But having dissected the event it really does illustrate exactly how much we have fallen from being one of the original "Big Five"

Some good teams in the Championship. Sheffield United beat Spurs the other day. Plus at least two teams (likely Soton and Bournemouth) will be going down with us. Both of them have got results against us. No guarantee we would come back up. It would be another hard slog. If we can keep a good spine of the team, we’d have a chance of being up there.

Whether we get relegated or somehow manage to avoid it, the whole club needs to modernise. Perhaps relegation is the only way it will change things, that and the new stadium.

Methinks the only "real change" is likely to come from relegation - or at least, it's probably the fastest route to change. Another last minute survival and things will no doubt be the same again next year: we'll all breathe a sigh of relief, the board/owner will slap themselves on the back for a job well done and being right about not panicking, and the club plods along doing the same thing with the same people, counting the days till BMD.

Maybe if we get relegated Moshiri sees the value of his asset plummet and he decides to cut his losses and sell up. Maybe BK decides to call it a day for the sake of his health. Maybe Moshiri finally sweeps the board. Who knows. A shiny new stadium will no doubt help with revenue streams, but I don't think it'll be the golden ticket or the thing that magically fixes this club once and for all, irrespective of what league we're in.

BK isn’t calling it a day. He’s like the captain of the titanic. He’s taking it straight to the bottom of the ocean/relegation.

I mean he’s still well enough to do his job and attend games so I highly doubt this.

Imagine the abuse he would get at GP if we get relegated and he's sat there whilst we're losing to Hull. He's nearly 80. The "health reasons" or the "time with family" line would be the obvious thing to say to give him an out, if that's what he wanted to do.

There's also every chance he might want to be the chairman to restore Everton to their rightful place at the top table and be there to cut the ribbon on the stadium he's finally able to deliver after working tirelessly 24/7 for 30 years on it etc etc. You bet he'd love that.

If we drop then it will have happened at least. These last months and indeed since Ancelotti left, they have felt like a very slow kill.

I don't know how long the adjustment would take for me personally but adjust I would.

We can't say how we would fare. But I won't buy into all the negativity if we do get relegated. Provided that is, we get big change at board level.

If we do get that, and the stadium continues to rise, then whether it's the end of July or the start of August, hope begins anew.

But saying all that, I'd rather renewed hope as a Premier League club. What will be, will be.
