Several posters have mentioned that they (or people they know) have fantastic qualifications in certain fields yet are unable to do simple everyday things.

I'm like them. Well, in one aspect I am.

A character in a Stephen Fry novel said he there is a difference between the brain and the mind and that he had an excellent brain but a terrible mind.

I liked that.
