The Dead Thread

It was ok for a long time.
Differing opinions and beliefs but kept at a banter level.
Unfortunately lately one or two mainly newcomers started getting intense and nasty
it was ok, and quite interesting, frankly, for a wider diversity of subjects and viewpoints than normally seen on US based forums. Unfortunately, it became rather unpleasant in some of the busier threads.

I feel reading some of the posts in there over the last several months that it was not entirely one sided in the blame and those who had adopted the section of the website as their own have just as much blame in losing it as those who they believe to be at fault.

The 'established' contributors however did have boundaries to their discussion and banter.
A handful of newcomers either failed to recognise this or chose to ignore those boundaries.
This led to extremist views being expressed and hence a downward spiral of comfort for many.

The established contributors had turned some of the topics into echo chambers of sorts which then meant any opposite opinion to their collective right one which was something that was said recently meant it created friction or ridicule as a result of it. Not all threads acted like that but certain ones it was the same posters with the same opinions on repeat without any willingness to debate a point and instead mock or dismiss anything else said which is not to say some opposition points weren't free from mocking but like any natural debate, it relies on two sides.

Name and shame. I will slay this wokist marxist echo chamber band

SAY IT

Bloody hell, 30 years old :(

The German YouTuber and bodybuilding influencer Jo Lindner, known to fans as Joesthetics, has died of an aneurysm at the age of 30, his partner has confirmed.

Millwall Football Club owner and chairman John Berylson has died from injuries sustained after his car overturned and hit a tree in the United States. Police in Falmouth, Massachusetts, say no other vehicle was involved in the crash, that occurred on Tuesday. The 70-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another one of the DiY Soundsystem founders, Simon DK, passed away last week at 60.

He was a fantastic DJ, largely responsible for the dubbed-out deep house sound DiY were known for.

Well sad about this, danced to his sets not a few times down the years.

In other unbearable lightness of dying news, Milan Kundera has expired at age 94. This Czech bad boy wrote a bunch of books I enjoyed, plus another, later bunch of books I never got around to reading. (I lost touch with his work after he got huge because I was snotty and elitist, but luckily Everton Football Club cured me of that.) The Book of Laughter and Forgetting was my particular favorite. RIP, bud.
