Sinead O'Connor. No just no. Loved her, loved her music. A troubled soul, misguided and outspoken (to say the least) but she didn't shy away from her beliefs.

Especially religion. I’m talking about how she called out the Catholic Church, how it ballsed up Ireland. Its oppressive views on abortion, women’s rights, gay rights etc alongside child abuse! 😡

Anyone disagree with me, I don't care. People like me give a toss about that kind of thing.

This is why she was loved. We knew she was right about these things. Telling us she was Mother Bernadette Mary, not so much.

Agreed. She said a lot of good things, but also a lot of silly things!
It was obvious that she had mental health issues. That's why many felt a lot of sympathy for her even as she went on the Late Late Show wearing a dog collar - of the religious variety, of course - and baited a vaguely alarmed Gay Byrne. This is where she was badly advised. It was mental illness as a spectator sport and it was a little unsettling. She had a good heart. It was sad to see her like that. Sadder tonight to know she has gone.
