The Dead Thread

Sad to forward the news that the great Peter Schickele has passed at 88. Thanks for all the laughs, Pete. You brought worldwide fame to the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony and running noses, as well as conceiving the world's most memorable version of Beethoven 5. See below.
My musical journey would have been sadly incomplete without you and PDQ Bach. Well done, good and faithful servant of music.

Silent Servant and Soft Machine (musicians) died together in some accident, it seems
Soft Machine were a big fave of mine in my teens so I googled this and didn't get anything. Seems the musicians (one of whom was his partner) performed under the name Soft Moon.

Don't do this to me C.

Still very sad though. Reports are also referring to it as an incident rather than an accident.

Ooops sorry, got them mixed up. Yes, one played under soft moon. The other, silent servant, was quite an influencal techno DJ, I think his wife died too

Yeah, yesterday it broke as an accident but I think their drugs were laced with fentanyl so i suppose it can be either/or

I originally thought a car accident or something

Ian Bailey who was convicted in absentia in 2019 by a Paris Court of the murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier in 1996.

Heart attack - cremated this morning.

Was he guilty - Gardai could never prove it. He always denied it but why didn't he turn up in Paris for the trial?

A film being made about the whole story.
