The Dead Thread

Seriously - what's the etiquette here?
Anybody dying is sad - don't speak ill of the dead and all that - I think that includes bad taste jokes. When somebody's had a good innings, maybe be a little light hearted in celebration of a long life. Someone dying young is always sadder - especially right after the event.

Unless they're an utter blert of course, then they deserve it.

Who makes the rules?
Good post, and no idea of the rules mate,i just laugh if its funny to me,and if it isnt move on to the next post.

Etiquette is subjective, what I find funny as a scouser is probably not what @Eggs finds funny. Do I think him dying is funny? No it’s tragic, do I find the jokes about his death funny? Or memes? Some yeah, but that doesn’t mean I am glad or I laugh a this death, if someone literally says “haha he’s dead that’s funny and I’m happy”, then that isn’t funny at all is it, objectively speaking.

It's doing it openly on Internet that's the problem, on closed sites like this where the family and friends can't see it it's not so bad. I've had to pull up a few on my West Brom site about it as they didn't like it when that Sheffield Wednesday fan made a joke about the West Brom fan dying at the ground the other week. They made sure he got reported and that he lost his job, banned from footy for life and up in court in January .

I wonder if his ex band mates knew the true extent of his drug issues - I assume that’s part of the reason for the split.

Crack is heavy though. I also question why his girlfriend who presumably knew about his hard drug use didn’t do anything about it.

Well, I do know why she didn’t.

Really is tragic all round. I wonder what he saw/opened on his laptop that he smashed to pieces before the fall, too?

A young lad has died as a result of being in a dark place. Just because he's famous doesn't make it fair game; it's a publically accessible forum. Not a private WhatsApp group.

Should of had the light on so he could see where he was going.

No - you’re conflating your outrage with sympathetic criticism, you are personally offended by some of the comments here, it’s possible to be sympathetic and laugh at the jokes at the same time. Like I said, it’s subjective and you’ll see loads of people contribute to that thread. Some are notable absentees from that thread though. Including you.
