The Dead Thread

….which might just have something to do with the increasing lack of respect, decency and values, Tom.

Anyway, it’s a case of each to their own.
No mate, laughter has always been around, so has using it as a coping mechanism when things go wrong in life.
Nothing new there.

It’s a forum Eggs mate, you’re taking Tommy far too serious, none of know this lad and showing respect is a bit of a sign of virtue signalling, I’m sure you’re very nice and respectful but so is Tom, I hope when I croak it everyone has a giggle, however I go - it’s ok to laugh at the hilariously sad nature of life, we live, we die, nothing else really matters. It is sad the fella had problems and leaves a son, but like the rest of us we continue on, life will drag you along regardless. I appreciate your dignified support here but it’s lost on a footy forum.

Please literally laugh at my grave when I die, cos it will be tragic to think someone is crying over my ashes when im stuck in purgatory with a hot poker up me arse.

If you don't know that puns and jokes are a regular feature in here, then you don't visit this thread enough.
There are also heartfelt messages and tributes to people who have passed who were inadvertently part of posters lives. Can't say it bothers me too much, but I don't see the joy in the race to crudely joke about someone's demise

Make a joke about dcl wearing a dress or dele ali being a leech see if you get the same it’s just a joke response, doubt it , it’s just a pet hate of mine same when people name jokes about that Maddie mcann can never get me head round that either

I suppose that's it. I don't generally see the joy in it either, bar one or two things that have given me a laugh. But I feel like we only really litigate this when there's a "big" death. At the end of the day, a chap we don't know has died. It's newsworthy, some people will be sad for different reasons. Kurt will post one of his puns and life goes on.

Just to be very clear, I think it’s absolutely tragic he has passed away, demons come in all shapes and forms, drink, drugs, women, etc. it’s tragic when anyone dies but the consumption of media interest when a celebrity dies really is such an unedifying and disgusting experience for everyone to see it play out in public, but that’s how they chose to make a living, my daughter came to tell me about it last night and the first thing she mentioned was his alleged abuse of his partner(s).

Life is so crap, really it is - find joy in the whatever you can because you’re only three floors away from being a joke on a footy forum one day.

I’m a bit more sympathetic to Dele- I think one day we will get the complete story as to why the club have an attachment to him, is it cos he’s been through the mill? Nobody knows but I bet it’s quite likely very serious.

Regarding DCL wearing a dress, the fella could wear suspenders and 6 straps for training as long as scored I couldn’t care for tbh, let the people live their lives as they want. The internet exists now as a cauldron of hate, envy and outrage. I just want cheese on toast!

Maybe we should just joke about old deaths.
Seriously - what's the etiquette here?
Anybody dying is sad - don't speak ill of the dead and all that - I think that includes bad taste jokes. When somebody's had a good innings, maybe be a little light hearted in celebration of a long life. Someone dying young is always sadder - especially right after the event.

Unless they're an utter blert of course, then they deserve it.

Who makes the rules?
