The Dead Thread

Been York today to watch Widnes and getting the news on the train back about Rob was gutting. Even if you aren’t a rugby league fan, seriously go watch his try against Saints, for us lot, it was like watching Maradona or Messi in full flow. The man was a hero, Kevin Sinfield just didn’t represent a friend, he represented what a genuine person is. Great player, great family man, his family and friends are the true heroes of this country.

A wonderful rugby player, and even better person. An absolute warrior on and off the field. As a Bradford Bulls fan years ago I saw this tiny young kid go into become a superstar through his courage, technique and ability, playing the toughest sport of all. He was a joy to watch, while a pain as he tore the Bulls defence apart, he spoilt many a good night for me at Headingley.

His determination to raise awareness and money for research and facilities since his diagnosis has been so inspiring. Building work starts tomorrow on a new MND facility in Leeds. The way he has been supported by his Rhinos teams mates and the wider Rugby League community is a powerful reminder of the good that sport can do.

Teary eyed, remembering what he was, and what he has done the last few years. Thoughts with all his friends and family. No doubt Kevin Sinfield will keep fighting for his mate.

Sleep well Rob. X
