The Demotion of the song Grand Old Team

Should Grand Old Team be restored to prominence again over the numb nuts 'wooo!' song

Absolutely not. I'm sorry but GOT is an uninspiring dirge. It's sums everything wrong with the club. Even our song we have to talk about those scumbags over the park. We don't need to be talking about them in the clubs anthem. A fan favourite that we can always go back to? Definitely, 100%. I love the GOT chant, but no way should it be the clubs official anthem. Collectively singing spirit of the blues has been one of the few good things to happen in recent years. I'm sorry if that offendeds the boring old bellends that never sing at all (or even go the match in most cases) but you'll just have to live with it lads.
Exactly
It's cringe as hell telling them we care while trying to tell them we don't
And people find the fun 'woooo' cringe lol
Guess some people like dirges

This might be unimportant in terms of the real problems we're face with at the club at the moment, but it's getting on my nerves and I have to speak out.

Over the past 12 months or so the club have placed this song down the pecking order in favour of stuff like Forever Everton and that abomination Spirit of the Blues (which, IMO, only people who are impressed by cat memes can possibly like).

Grand Old Team should rightfully be restored to being played prior to Z-Cars and immediately after any win or good/unexpected draw against a top of the table challenging team.

The fact that no longer happens is another example of the trampling down of our culture by the clueless frauds who've cratered the club in the last 7 seasons.

Thoughts?
Maybe a blend of differnet songs could provide a new standard but with a nod to the past, also. Something like:

And it's a Grand Old Team to play for,
And it's a Grand Old team to support,
So get your coat on and get moving,
Cos we don’t know the meaning of losing,

And if you know your history,
It's enough to make your heart go Woooooooo
Cos we’re hot on the trail,
And there’s no way we’re gonna fail,

And we'll fight fight fight
With all our might
For Patterson in the Royal Blue Jersey

Obviously it'll need a bit of work but I for one and am all for it.

You literally brought up the name of this forum like it actually matters... you're the one side-tracking the most pointless Everton thread in existence.
I would rarely agree with Dave but on this occasion, I have to. You are acting like a child looking for attention. You understand the point he is making and you are deliberately trying to twist it into some sort of issue just to be argumentative and try and get 'a win'. It really is pathetic.

What's this thread got to do with a Villa fan exactly? If that is what you are.

Ditch the last verse.

😂 😂 😂

My dad was there for the first couple of games they played it at Goodison in the 60s, apparently it was mocked back then. Let's be honest most football songs are actually terrible, at least with spirit of the blues it's a laugh and it annoys the F out of the opposition
