I'm loving this just wish I had way more time. I want a decent graphics mod though, the one I've tried out adds a load more colour to the game but is just horrible in some areas, but it can really give you an idea of how washed out and bland the game looks (even if it's intentional). I'll post screenshots later. Thank you lord for mods.

I am not following, I think the game looks FANTASTIC!!!! Oh, I found out why the game recommends a quadcore. It offloads dynamic shadows from the GPU to CPU, which is why the quad cores end up with much higher framerates than an otherwise identical dual core. So if you are on a dualcore rig (like me) and can deal with less detailed shadows, you can turn the shadows down (it took me from a 50-60fps average to a 80-90fps) on Ultra settings.

First Lydia vanished into thin air and now my bald nord friend is walking around super slowly with an imaginary sword and refusing to attack anything....

I wouldn't know! She vanished after about 15 minutes. I take it nobody else has had this glitch then?

She disappeared for me but once I bought a house she appeared there. I think if you don't have a house yet she's at Dragonsreach.

Here's some screenshots with and without the mod enabled. It's not perfect but it definitely shows that there's room for improvement and in time I'm sure there'll be a graphics mod that's worth keeping on.

Death is a possibility...she started lagging behind me the other day and got deaded by a couple of Ice Wraith's or whatever the hell those things are called. Reloaded...I can't do without a mule.
