I think remain will win. But Leave are closing the gap. Bookies had Remain at heavy odds on but have widened a bit after the last two polls.

The only Remain people I actually know are voting that way because they have houses abroad and want to be able to collect their UK pensions without any issues.

No wonder the Conservatives are IN.

He's a strange one isn't he. To begin with people thought he was some kind of racist, but then he always seemed passionate about the UK when he was in Europe, he then developed such that he became mainstream and is now probably more trusted to tell the truth than Cameron or Corbyn. I think I'd be happy to have him as part of the negotiating body when we leave the EU.......

The problem with that is how do people fund their campaigns. I've thought long and hard about this. There really isn't a perfect solution but the British one isn't bad.

I even like the House of Lords. Experienced people with money who are free from the financial and social consequences who can vote their conscience. I know that's the elite having a certain amount of control so that may seem hypocritical for me to say but it only ever gets used when government oversteps the mark. It stops it from being a dictatorship of the many.

My problem with the EU is the elite are the executive. It's the wrong way round.

Problem there Pete is that they are all of the same ilk career politicians looking for whats on it for them,Id bet almost anything 99% of people dont know what their MP looks like or have had any inter action with them,when I was growing up we had an MP called Eric Heffer who lived local,was always available to contact and mixed with the community

I think the problem is deep down most people don't care enough about democracy. They actually wouldn't mind a technocracy because they trust their elites.

They trust their heads of industry to run our economy more than they trust politicians who have to answer to us "no nothings". Ultimately that's the choice and people who vote remain are voting with their eyes open this time.

Of course everyone who thinks like that always thinks they will think the same way as the elite until the day they don't and then be angry there's no way to change it.

Again people do take offense because they can and personally that's what I think you are doing. It doesn't mean they are always taking offense because they can. Some people are more badly effected than others. It's the absolutes that you use that I have a problem with. It's the sign of someone wanting to control the narrative to make it a binary choice between right and wrong. When people do that they tend to want to use it to control behavior.

I can tell you that you are wrong in thinking that I take offence because I can. I take offence because I see the effects of the same behaviour in the real world.

There is plenty of evidence, through research, that the behaviour of people on the internet is the the same as that in the real world, or how some people would like to be (I guess they don't have the balls to follow through).

The attitude towards foreigners, other ethnicities and other religions on these boards has overstepped the mark on too many occasions. If it is accepted, then it is given some form of legitimacy, which in turn encourages others to behave the same. That behaviour is spilling over into society. Suspicion, becomes untruths, becomes name calling, becomes spitting, becomes what next?

Have a proper think what it would be like if it were you, your partner or your children. Don't just presume you know. You don't.

I never said you weren't allowed to think for others. I have no problem people taking offense for other people. Racism breeds racism so it's important to stop it from taking hold in the environment. Try reading what I say. I said I think you are using it as a debating strategy. You may not be but that's what I think. If you are genuinely offended by what has been said here then you must find it hard stepping outside into the big bad world.

In fact I'm sure the mods would have stepped in if anything that had been said stepped over the line.

So do plenty of progressives want the ability to include race as a factor in the recruitment process.

Libertarians want you to be able to do what you want free from government control which means you in theory could do that if you wish.

Again would you call either of these groups racists.

Personally I am against the discrimination laws changing. Frankly I wouldn't trust what in today's world they would change to. It certainly wouldn't favor whites.
