The Everton Board Thread 2014/15

Is it time for change?

  • I'm happy with the way thing are. Kenwright and the Board should stay.

  • Kenwright and the board need to go. We need change.

Football experts these days have a short attention span and an even shorter memory. Football history stopped and restarted with the birth of the premiership. It's not just Everton alone but we do suffer badly as we are one of the biggest clubs before the birth of premiership to have been seen to slip back to ordinary status.

Football is about finishing top four in the premiership and competing in the CL , anything else really doesn't count anymore.
Certainly what happened in the 1960's, 1970's and 1980's doesn't count.

Football now is all about money, if you have pots of it you will succeed ,if you don't you won't.
I think back to the time of Brian Clough and Peter Taylor who built championship winning teams at Forest and Derby buy buying misfits, troublemakers, youngsters and occasionally the best players around.
He could not do that today.
It is a reflection imo of the decline in the game.

Sorry I'm late replying mate grandson has me run off my feet, take your last point first, I couldn't more proud to be an Evertonian wouldn't have it any other way. The first part of your post is to some extent true but it's not just the 18 titles, 5ECs, 5 league cup and uefa cups, the fact remains that over the years the focus of the football media is on the top four teams and with the exception of one year and a couple of distant 5th places we have been nowhere near. Outside of England we are hardly known and this is all to do with CL exposure which we have none I hate saying this the beast that is football now leaves no room for teams that can't challenge the top four. Sorry if this is a bit rambling I'm in a rush to get out.

I wonder where you live, Nobby. Every Everton match is on TV in Australia and probably in every other country that televises
the Premier League. Football supporters world wide watch it, so how can we be 'hardly known'?

Live in Liverpool mate, being screened and being watched are two different things, if one of the top 4 teams are being screened at the same time as Everton I can bet who will have the larger audience, I can not remember one occasion while abroad when I've told people that I'm from Liverpool they have asked me if I support Everton I'm always asked if I'm a red, how many people abroad do you see wearing Everton shirts very few. Most football supporters in this country are fed the sky football agenda and all the arm chair supporters lap it up ( mostly Liverpool supporters by the way) so what it must be like abroad god only knows. Until Everton are constantly challenging for a CL spot or the focus of the debate is moved away from the CL we will never get the exposure the rs get. One last point until last season the rs where no were near a CL spot but they still where never of the tv Christ the BT sports channel may as well be called lfc sports.

Does anyone know how much we actually owe the only thing I can find is this on taken from the Everton website
The financial results have led to the Club’s net debt position as at 31 May reducing from £45.3m in 2013 to £28.1m in 2014.

Surely with all the TV money next season we will look more attractive to a buyer especially if we are reducing the debt each year so we don't have the excuse as we don't look good on paper as debt isn't as high we have players like lukaku, stones, Barkley, Coleman easily worth over a 100 mil plus the rest of the squad, we potentially might have a new ground (if it's not season ticket renewal propaganda) so where do we go from here are we still actively looking for a buyer or an investor

£49m mate, its in the accounts. We aren't reducing the debt each year, borrowing actually increased by £1m

@joey_macmo That's true, but we also had nearly £17m in cash, compared to £0 the year before, so the overall picture was far better year on year.

Absolutely that level of debt to turnover is no where near as bad a position as we have been in the past, Id imagine most of the cash is gone now on Lukaku though. It will be Interesting if Net Debt is the headline figure again this year as revenue will be down in all likelihood due to a lower finish.

I've seen Everton fans everywhere I've been.

Our club will never be able to move forward while we have this board of directors, they are quite happy for things to just bumble along both on and off the pitch. In the city we are being pushed to one side as though we are an irrelevance, has our board done anything to lift the club's profile, NO. BK just bleeding well sits there looking down all smarmy winning or losing it seems that it doers not matter to him as long as the boat is not rocked. Apart from piddling amounts of transfer funds there has been no serious investment into the club to move it along. New stadium in your dereams this will not happen until one day Health and Safety condemn GP. For comparison look at the details of other Pl Clubs.

Chelsea: redeveloped stadium, billionaire investment
Arsenal: new stadium, billionaire(s) on board
Man United: stadium redevelopment, billionaire investment
Man City: new stadium, billionaire investment
Liverpool: stadium redevelopment, billionaire ownership
Spurs: billionaire ownership
Southampton: new stadium, billionaire ownership
Swansea City: new stadium, new investment
West Ham Utd: stadium redevelopment, new stadium
Stoke City: new stadium, billionaire ownership
Crystal Palace: US takeover
Newcastle: stadium redevelopment, billionaire ownership
West Brom:
Sunderland: new stadium, billionaire ownership
Aston Villa: billionaire ownership
Hull City: new stadium, new investment
QPR: new investment
Burnley:
Leicester City: new stadium, new investment

We are in there with Burnley and West Brom, how great is that I ask?

The only time BK got close to worrying was a couple of years ago with those protests and the group have now faded away. I recall there was not that much support on here for them indeed quite a bit of criticism. Well look where are now! Even across the way our neighbours got tough with Hicks and Co so why can't we do the same?

How can we get any where near BK and Co to make it clear that this is not good enough, it requires protests at the ground but I cannot see that happening, too many of the fans just roll up to watch the game and go home or to the pub for a drink, where they will bemoan or celebrate the result, and call the likes of BK a tosser and that is it. Even if a piece of land is found, the club does not have the funds or so we are led to believe to build a stadium.

What money has BK and the rest of the charlatans put into the club?

Rant over for now.

@Toffeelover
I hear what you're saying m8 but I'm a bit thick and don't really look into boardroom finance matters, just love the club lad yanow. I'm not defending Bill, I appreciate he's not a billionaire and mortgaged his house just to save the club. But do you really want some dodgy foreigner like Shinawatra rather than a fellow Blue like Bill at the helm ?

Do you want the club to stay as it is and GP getting older and all those compromised views or move forward. That is what fans have to ask themselves. To move forward would mean BK et al letting go, I think there are many fans who would like to see some billionaire come in.

You ask your self what is you want and how can that be achieved.

Yeah mate see what you're saying, don't get me wrong Bill's not perfect by any means but he's stabilised the club while the likes of Portsmouth, Leeds have failed etc just feel that Bill's being penilised for not having a billion or two lying round to spend.

You still have to ask yourself where do you want the club to be in the next ten years and how can that be achieved. That is what all the fans have to face. Keeping playing for the mid table trophy or competing for the title and Euro.
