Is it time for change?

  • I'm happy with the way thing are. Kenwright and the Board should stay.

It is being spent. Take last year's outgoings plus a bit for increased wages from this year's projected revenues and you are left with roughly £12m. Not really enough to cover transfers, never mind sorting out a new stadium

It's an extra 90 million over three years, with more to come after that.

Then why did last year's figures show a profit of exactly the unspent transfer fee of Fellaini?

It's pretty much spent mate, you could throw an extra £100m at any club in the PL and their costs would just swell to swallow it

It comes back to capital - the business needs re-capitalising. The P&L will look after itself in the next few years due to the increase in broadcasting revenues, we need to sort out the balance sheet to move forward with the squad or a new/redeveloped stadium.

In order for the costs to increase you actually have to spend the money. The increase in TV money is well documented, it's approximately an extra 90 million over the next three years with more to come after that. You can carry on making Kenwright's excuses for him if you like (you won't be the first or the last), but there is no way that Everton have already spent the extra 90 million from the new TV deal. No way at all.

I'm in no way making excuses for Kenwright.

But if you can show me where the club had £30m extra last year that wasn't spent and didn't relate to Fellaini, plus show me where you think the extra £30m in profit will come from this year?

Believe me, it's been spent

That must be why Martinez keeps saying our financial situation is OK and 'we don't need the money' from any player sales, and why he keeps saying we don't need to sell anyone. We all know that the 'big club factor/Champs League , can effect a players decision to leave, but for the last couple of years no one has appeared to be in a hurry to leave.(except maybe Mirallas). Our big problem is holding on to our best players, not buying players. On paper the percieved value of our squad compares favourably with most Prem clubs, and this would suggest that something has been done correctly.

Money was spent last summer, more than what we received from Fellaini 12 months prior. The Fellaini money may have contributed to our expenditure, but so did that extra 30million+ we received in TV/prize money. But there is another extra 30 million to come our way this summer, and another 30 million after that if Bobby can actually manage a top half finish. There's no way I am accepting that the additional 60 million we are going to receive in the next 12 months has already been spent, or is already accounted for in extra costs. We would be the only club in the PL to have done so, but we haven't so we're not.

Exactly. The reason he is saying we are fine financially is because we are benefiting from an extra 90 million pound over three years, with even more to come after that. I don't agree that just keeping hold of your players is more important than adding to your squad. You stand still in the PL and you end up going backwards, which looks exactly like what is happening to us

Agreed...........on the fastest rising 'other operating costs' element in the history of any football club......

Fantastic, I look forward to the squad being overhauled without selling or a significant profit made this year

Let's talk when neither happens

This is the issue mate. What are they doing with the extra money? I'm not going to accept that an extra 90 million has already been spent because it just hasn't. I don't worry too much about headline grabbing accounting 'profits', the money all gets spent somehow anyway so there is no profit. If the accounts were written the day after we bought Lukaku then there would have been no profit.

Don't we still owe about £20 million for Lukaku?Second payment is due this summer, and needs taking into account in anyones maths.

Surely it'll be easier for one, for the sake of consistency, to calculate transfers in and out as and when they happen, otherwise you'll probably have to calculate incoming fees from Billy, Yobo, Fellaini, 'Chebe's, etc., in this year's calc's.
