You're spinning so much here you'll be dizzy! Have you any idea how business works? Earl bought shares in Everton because he thought big profits could be made from his retail outlets (Hard Rock Cafe etc) supposedly surrounding the stadium at DK. When DK failed to materialise, Earl wanted out, but at a profit that would justify his original purchase. That is the situation we are in now. No one knows how much Earl wants for his shares, but I'd bet that BK, Jon Woods, and most if not all of the small shareholders would accept less. That is not the only reason that Everton has not been sold, but its a contributory factor over the last few years. Other reasons have been trotted out many, many times before...the ground, the revenue streams, etc, the unsuitability (in the boards opinion) of potential buyers, etc. If Everton find a potential buyer who understands what is needed to move the club forward, this potential buyer will then have to do a deal that satisfies Earl. The fairy story that Bill 'won't let go of his train set' might look clever in a forum debate but it is basically nonsense. At the present time, taking all issues into account, is there any reason why Bill would want to carry on, even if he were able? And you know what? When(not if) the club is sold and things go pear shaped under new owners, guess who will be blamed? Just the person that 'sold our club to terrible owners'....thats right...Bill Kenwright. Talk about a no win situation.....
Totally useless piece of information, but theorectically, the company and the board could have faced prosecution at any time between the 15th and 22nd September 2015 for late submission of an annual return - can't remember what section in the CA 2006 and the 2011 AR regs it is, but it's a criminal offence.
I'll sit in a darkened room and find something useful to do I think.
Strange thing is, alrhough it's a criminal offence, there's no fine from Co's House and it's automatically remedied by filing the AR.Well, Watched Toffee's going to be all over that in the morning !
Not really worth worrying about mate. I was invested once in a plc on AIM who failed to hold their AGM within the allotted timeframe so played merry hell with their chief exec for a few weeks, mainly because he was a tit. The authorities just gave them an unofficial slap on the wrist.
I realise this has nothing to do with EFC but I've needed to publicly fume about it for some time !
With all respect Steve, you say I am spinning, yet I just merely pointed out what position we were in due to Bill making sure Earl bought those shares as you had previously pointed out and you have just simply written again in even a longer and more drawn out fashion.
I actually have up reading half way through on this one! And yes, I have my own business of which I am sole director. Thanks for asking.
As I said...a 'needs must' situation. I'm sure if BK could have afforded the Gregg shares he would have bought them himself! You are treating a normal business scenario as if it was akin to buying a centre back and then finding out he couldn't head the ball....oops....
The shares were offered to Earl..he weighed things up(talked to Green?) and bought them based on his profit driven agenda. Some things 'happen'...Bill Kenwright is not the Devil, the reincarnation of the Wolf of Wall Street, or even Flash Harry. He's a successful businessman in his core industry(the business that pays his mortgage). He is a salesman, yes, and a good one( great at getting money out of people to invest in his shows) He perhaps should have used different methods to show business methods to run Everton, but we really aren't doing to badly are we? The usual suspects have been predicting meltdown ,relegation and bankruptcy since the early days of Blue Kipper, but here we are, if we win tomorrow, sixth in the best league in the world, with young, talented and valuable players, one of whom cost £28 million. Lie back and enjoy. Bedtime now for me...heavy lunch today and early start tomorrow...we 74 year olds need to look after ourselves !! Have a good night.
By the way...theres a typo in your last post...I assume you mean 'gave up reading'...give your secretary a kicking in the morning.....
Thankfully it's hard to argue against us being in a decent state on the field, this has happened under his tenure and been based on investing in youth, a couple of decent managers, some good transfer business and probably a bit of luck.
Sadly we are not in a good state off it and rely solely on sky money. He has been very lucky to be in charge at a time when sky have pumped fortunes into the game, as the business acumen of the people in charge has certainly been questioned on numerous occasions over the years.
No point in going over old ground, I don't need to tell you his almost undeniable bad moments such as kings dock, Kirkby etc etc....let's call it a draw, we know the stunts he has pulled, so no point in getting our knickers in a twist, nothing we can do about it. He will still go down as one of Everton's most unsuccessful chairmen, tells it's own story.
After reading this news item again, it seems that Ashleys plan is to take over Kitbag. Interesting?
@Steve Wigan hi mate. Have you got a link for that please?Just read a piece about Mike Ashley...looks like he may be winding up Findel...he's installed a director and this guys purpose would seem to be to wind up the company. One of Findels group of companies is Kitbag......
Any of our accounting/financial experts know anything?

Had a look and found the Independent story saying that the shareholders are very concerned at SD taking a stake as the non exec they're proposing is a guy who was involved in a deal that put USC in administration from whence it was bought debt free for a relative pittance by SD, who owned it and accumulated the debt in the first place (If my reding of the article is correct).
In fairness, the Independent reckon the staff got 15minutes notice!!!Hi..it was on the front page of MSN News, and is more or less said what you said, plus the bit about closing USC and giving the staff 5 minutes notice....the inference was that Ashley would do the same to Findel, and by buying an 'In Administration' Findel for next to nothing, would acquire Kitbag, which is the on line sports retail division of Findel.
The obvious suggestion from that is of course that Ashley would then be responsible for merchandising Everton gear !
