He did say he expected movement from other American investors within a few months though.

So, exactly what is being reported.

I truly believe this yet another garbage story made up by the club to get upset fans to pipe down. We're obviously not going to be buying anyone next month, the team is struggling on the pitch and they're are half-price season tickets to sell. It's the same every December, a takeover story pops up in a paper, everyone gets excited and then when nothing comes of it every sinks back into resignation. I may be incredibly pessimistic but that's what you become supporting Everton sadly, good stuff doesn't happen for us.

It actually sounds legit, after all these years wanting new owners and investment I'm not as happy as I figured i would be.

I hope it's not a case of Bill just accepting the first offer that came along???

They are obviously rich but they ain't Abramovich Sheik Mansour rich are they.

Conflicted me

So the club have hauled in The Times and the 2 blokes mentioned as the potential buyers into a contrived takeover story, merely to 'pipe down' fans and sell half season tickets?

What's in it for the Times and the 2 Shermans like?

Mate I seriously doubt Rory Smith and The Times are going to ruin their reputation just to put out a story from Kenwright.

The Echo and locals maybe, not a paywall and respected paper like The Times.

Rory smith last tweet:
So no guarantees or predictions, but from what I'm told by several people, the offer is credible and the intent is there.

The interest is legit, but if you think they're interested because they love football or they love sport or they see anything other than pounds signs because we run a tight budget then you need to give your head a wobble. The guy leading this took a quarter of the money from the tv deal of his baseball team as he left there. These are not white knights. These will want their pound of flesh. Swansea saw through them, but then they've supporters on the board who aren't looking to cash in.

I don't believe the Times are deliberately doing the club's dirty work, I just believe it's another nothing story they've leaked using a source who they know a credible journalist like Smith will believe and a national paper will run with it.

I would absolutely LOVE for this report to be legit and be proven completely wrong. The truth is though I just can't be arsed getting excited over stories like this anymore, we've been burnt too many times. I will not believe any takeover story until I see a new owner posing with a scarf on Sky Sports News.
