which turned out to be a massive lie and there was no free stadium after all.

but dont let the facts from the review blind your bias.

I though goodison was set to lose its safety certificate?
Slaven do you just support Everton so you can hatev Bill Kenwright, because thats all you ever talk about!!.

I just PM'd him suggesting he sticks to things that really matter like the colour of the nets, whether we play Z-cars at half time and who we can beg for on loan off a rich club.

Some people need to see the bigger picture.

This is ripe for someone to do a make over...............

In general across Everton I've noticed a lot of anti Blue Union stuff going on.

I'll probably sound a bit naive now because I'm not an expert on finances, but anyway I reckon was unlucky Kenwright in that he took over Everton in the wrong era.

Stadium and enterprising business models weren't as important pre 90s. That would have been Kenwright's best era to run the club.

Unfortunately he's got us at a time when we need a new stadium, he hasn't even been able to do a stand nevermind a stadium.

Money for Moyes is his othe job, he's done ok to as good as poss without the above.

Therefore for me, this Century, running Everton is all about the stadium issue, and he's got nowhere with it.

Even if he done one stand I could look back on his reign and say he has progressed us. A new owner would would be more likely to take us on knowing there was only 3 stands that needed doing rather than 4.

a new stadium for what, until goodison is sold out regularly a new stadium isnt a problem. whats the point of getting a bigger stadium with the same attendances as we get now, and lets not talk about obstructed views, I have been to the Bernabeu sitting all the way at the top you can barley make out the players, but they still sell out because there is a demand for it.

You can get a ticket for pretty much any game bar united and the RS even them sometimes, until that changes a new stadium isnt an issue

The stadium issue could & should have been sorted out post the Taylor report, when the football trust was formed, and clubs had the benefit of large subsidies to redevelop their old, crumbling stadiums & convert them to all seater. We just put up the rather half arsed Park end, which I think only ended up costing the club circa £800K! The more forward thinking in the football world e.g. Ellis & Murray, took full advantage of the opportunity & either fully redeveloped or moved completely.

The truth about Bill, is that irrespective of the era, he was never the right man to be leading Everton FC. Bill simply hasn't got the cash to invest into the club & he's therefore been reliant on others & financial institutions to fund his 'dream'. Bill should have stayed in the background & allowed someone with some real financial muscle to take the club forwards. Instead, he forced his way to the front & took on a position that his wallet couldn't fund. That would have been the same in any decade, as everything is relative.

It's not just for selling out tickets, don't be so narrow minded. We generate so little income from things like corporate boxes it's unbelievable. Not to mention the fact that having an old stadium is not attractive to new investors/owners.

Yes if the Park End was built right in the first place, it would have been a great springboard to improve from.

To think that any improvemrnts to Goodison probably would have to start with the Park End, our newest stand!

That was one of the biggest mistakes in our history that. Up there with not trying harder to keep Kendall stay first time round.

Totally agree mate. I think the lack of foresight at that time, compounded the damage done at Heysel & gave us a mountain to climb.

I guess we got the future we sowed.

I remember at the time people in work and from speaking to people at the match quite a few weren't happy. The avenues to raise your voice pre internet was wsag, Echo, and the phone in. None would touch it so the debate didn't get in the open.

Now where's that time machine I built...

When you find it, give us a lift to January 1984 please.

I think we could see that we were missing out, & you're right, the issue never made it to the fore.

Great, great shame.

So in summary, during Kenwright's guidance the only positive step forward during the whole reign is this.......David Moyes.

The rest he has massively failed on, sold off everything the club owned and increased the debt massively without generating any form of other revenue streams.

Happy new feckin year!

Once John Moores went the place became a golf club full of pretend businessmen more interested in the present gin and tonic than the future of EFC.

Kendal's miracle of the 80's just compounded the arrogance and complacency "we are Everton" so need to do fck all "another G&T please.."

A huge betrayal of our forefathers who told the shifty President, Houlding, to stick it for trying to gouge them over the anfield rent, determined lads who turned up at Goodison Mere with picks and shovels and laid the foundations of the best ground in the country. They set share protocols to protect the club from exactly the unaccountable dictatorship we see today and the club became the best.

Forward thinking, innovative, stylish and successful - the very antithesis of the post Moores eras kendals time aside.

there were rumors at the time, dont know if its true ,that the parkend was designed to be a two tier does seem a waste of space behind that stand,
