In recent seasons the problem has been a lack of spending.. it is the way that it has been spent.
Even last summer ww did spend a good deal of money... but this time we spent it well.
The new ground is a work in progress, but this time it does look as if it will go ahead and the problem here is that most supporters(myself included) have no concept of what is involved in the development of a project like this this where some many factors are fighting with each other and have to be shoehorned into a fixed overall budget.
Dan Meis spoke about it recently where you are trying to reconcile a ground plan that covers seating capacity, the ability to earn money from non football related sources, a challenging site and the appearance which is so important given the iconic location.
I am not sure the top four is a complete shut out apart from those already at the top.
Spurs have bought and sold well, they are in a CL final and have not spent as much as some.
Even our neighbours across the park have been very shrewd in their transfer activity as much as I hate to admit it.
Our activity last summer was very positive.. Digne, Richarlison and Bernard , if sold, would all leave substantial profit and Mina will still hopefully prove to be good value and that is the way we need to continue.
In English football we may not be able to compete financially with about half a dozen clubs but in the overall world of football we are a big player and can certainly sign most players abroad if they can be identified early enough.
Mistakes have been made by Moshiri and the board , it does seem that lessons have been learned but only time will tell us that.
In general. I think we are making progess vbut we have to accept that team building and stadium building will take longer than we would like.
