2018/19 The Everton Board Thread

In recent seasons the problem has been a lack of spending.. it is the way that it has been spent.
Even last summer ww did spend a good deal of money... but this time we spent it well.

The new ground is a work in progress, but this time it does look as if it will go ahead and the problem here is that most supporters(myself included) have no concept of what is involved in the development of a project like this this where some many factors are fighting with each other and have to be shoehorned into a fixed overall budget.
Dan Meis spoke about it recently where you are trying to reconcile a ground plan that covers seating capacity, the ability to earn money from non football related sources, a challenging site and the appearance which is so important given the iconic location.

I am not sure the top four is a complete shut out apart from those already at the top.
Spurs have bought and sold well, they are in a CL final and have not spent as much as some.

Even our neighbours across the park have been very shrewd in their transfer activity as much as I hate to admit it.

Our activity last summer was very positive.. Digne, Richarlison and Bernard , if sold, would all leave substantial profit and Mina will still hopefully prove to be good value and that is the way we need to continue.
In English football we may not be able to compete financially with about half a dozen clubs but in the overall world of football we are a big player and can certainly sign most players abroad if they can be identified early enough.

Mistakes have been made by Moshiri and the board , it does seem that lessons have been learned but only time will tell us that.
In general. I think we are making progess vbut we have to accept that team building and stadium building will take longer than we would like.

From the fan survey write up:
Add to this, over 74% of survey respondents believe the senior executives of Everton are either not in touch or need to improve how in touch they are with the clubs loyal support. To this effect, there is a distinct appetite amongst the fan base for the club to consider the appointment of a ‘Head of Club and Supporter Liaison’ to maintain a steady and meaningful flow of information.

Er, that's some leap of logic to be making. I'd be broadly happy about it, as long as "JohnB" and TheEsk rule themselves out immediately. These two seem to be the only ones seriously championing the idea, and it reeks of self-promotion.

Late to this me, so apologies if I am missing the point. But if the club decided that some sort of better supporter representation was a road they would go down, wouldnt someone who is into self promotion be a half decent starting point?

Not saying I would like someone grandstanding, but self promotion could be described as self confident. Ergo, wouldnt be brow beaten by the club.

Probably miles off beam anyrate.

I'll be honest - that lad NetworkMichaelD who makes the mad YouTube vids is great at self-promotion and has great confidence, but I couldn't think of a worse candidate.

If anything I'd want a non-Everton fan (but not a kopite obvs) very experienced in PR or engagement, not someone who has given very sympathetic interviews to Bill and Moshiri on several occasions

Imagine a club worth billions appointing a fan to the Board.

Its a laughable suggestion.

Its also comical to suggest the Board doesnt know what the fans want.

Clubs should NEVER listen to their fans, fans are emotional and clueless idiots.

Yes, perhaps you're right or we'd have never signed the silky skills of Martina, Williams, Tosun etc and would by now be playing in Kirkby.......

It's reference to this;

Some clubs do it well, but for most it's lip-service and I'm not sure Everton need it - they prefer the fans forum model which again, isn't ideal IMO.

Not that he’s involved anymore but I see Phillip green has been charged with noncing behaviour in the states
That post just reminded me of; the 2 Dockers walking down the street, one says to the other "I see the tulips are out" the other says
"Does that affect us"?.

Nice to see the CEO of Everton eulogising over Liverpool’s CL win. How about doing your job and dragging us to that level rather than thinking how many ways you can give the same update on the stadium without adding any new content.

To be fair i wouldnt have it as eulogising, she was obviously asked about it and gave a positive answer in business terms. Im not a fan of her by any means, but im sure she would rather have not mentioned it.
