The Everton Board Thread

Apparently it's because Lampard wants a restructure to employ specific positions. If I understand correctly it's legal requirement to offer redundancies when they dissolve a person's role, they are also free to re-apply for that new position.

Headline is to again make you think Everton are on skid row but that is not really the case. The specialists that will be brought in will probably cost more than what is there now.

Significant savings will be made with the ladies team I guess because that was all funded by Usmanov. While not ideal we can hardly blame the club for tightening the belt in some areas.
That's exactly what it is.

"Hahahaha! Look at Everton! They cheated to stay in the league and now they're sacking a load of hard working staff"
People reading the headline and not the reasoning, it’s a thing businesses do, I’m currently seeing it at the moment, the floor managers and supervisors in Primark, including my mate, are being made to reapply for a new role (of which there are little vacancies) or either be made redundant in September or step back into floor roles at less pay if unsuccessful
I uggested the same a few days back. If a new CEO came in I'd hope he put the entire commercial/admin in side of the business on notice that works like a reverse probation. Prove your worth or your out. (not sure it's legal but it should be)

The place really is a shambles. You only have to try and get something sensible out of them when you contact the club to realise you're usually better of talking to a seagull.
Does board compensation affect either FFP or P&L? The board should forfeit their pay for overseeing the shambles this club is in.
I'm pretty sure it does?

As I understand it, only youth, womens and infrastructure (buildings, training grounds etc) fall outside of those measures.

If its a specialist position being created then how on earth is it not redundancy if those jobs are now lost because of it?

If it's a specialist position that requires specialist skills that's replacing a more mundane role, then yeah, it's redundancy.

It sucks but it's a business. Or at least it should be.

Good time to be an Evertonian eh. Clueless owner and inept board continually damaging the club and taking us backwards. A group of supermarket sweep contestants trying to buy us for about 10 bob. Came within a whisker of relegation last season. Have started pre season with just one new signing on a free but without our best player because they had to sell him to a rival to make right their own gross mismanagement of the club.

Just completely full of optimism for the season ahead.

I’m reaching the conclusion that the best way forward would be to close the club down totally and for the supporters to gather together and create a brand new club.
I think I’m reaching the end of my tether to be honest.

They sell Gordon and they know the pressure will ramp up. Imo it will be Calvert Lewin who goes in any substantial deal.

Yes it does. Cutting compensation to the board would be a quick win for FFP and P&S purposes. But I don’t really see that happening, do you?

It should be pretty straightforward. We have, what, the second highest compensation for the board in the league? How can they justify their pay while we literally escaped relegation with 1 game.
Don’t think they feel any need to justify the money. Board compensation is presumably decided by the board, so there is nobody to justify their compensation to. Certainly nobody so common as the ”fans”. Mosh could rein them in as the majority shareholder, but he doesn‘t appear inclined to do so.
